I am familiar with escort procedures, but how do things go down (pun) when I want special treatment in a massage parlour?

Do I pay for the room first, and then negotiate and pay for extras with the masseuse? Or is everything paid up front with the operator?

Do negotiations and practices vary much, from parlour to parlour?

Depends where you go. If there is a steady mamasan (male or female), you may pay the entire fee up front, an example is Atlantis. At many places, you pay for the room to the receptionist or the girl, and then when they come back you discuss and pay the remainder (example is Lily Skin & Body Care). There is no set rule.
