Mason Raymond--$3 million per year?

If the Leafs signed Kumelin for around $2.5 for less points & goals, that's what's been reported. Ouch. In one sense, I feel for our nucks in this salary cap NHL but also no, for Gillis boneheaded signings. Ie malholtra (made $700K with Sharks), Hamhuis, the best-paid D so far. Who knows, we may need more D to protect our sieve Louie. Can't even recall Roy or Hasek playing that inconsisently.

Think Raymond played beyond his abilities, they all seem to play well in their option years, don't they? But I'll stick to my guns that we need to keep our prospects. Nothing more than a 3-year deal bc if he did have a flukey season, his contract won't kill us like Louie has. That's an untradable contract.

Good for Province to point out that Mason only played well in the first half of season and probably got burnt out later as season wore on. Either way, he wasn't a critical part of their success.

totally agree re: Lui. He's gonna fade again near the end of stretch n when Schneider miraculously pulls off a few wins here and there, Lui will be choking bc of the pressure factor.

But back to Raymond. I say let him go bc he won't make an impact. Not sure if his goals were decisive but I'm willing to admit that the sissies play carried the team---if Raymond wasn't here, it won't be noticeable. Gawd, it seems like he's falling all the time....

Yeah, just because Toronto over paid for a no name, doesn't mean Raymond should get crazy money. He should sign a one year deal for $2.3 mill, score 35 goals next year, and then it would feel better to give him $3.5 for the next 4 years after that. all our young guys need to improve each year for the Canucks to have a chance

I'm not convinced on Raymond yet... He needs to muscle up and when that happens that screws people up too. First break out year doesn't mean anything but in arbitration it tends to mean everything unfortunately.

3mil is a number I see him getting from arbitration....
