Just read this in the Edmonton Sun:
Porno powerhouse and former jailbird Marylin Star is returning to her roots with a visit to Edmonton this weekend.
"I just want to see my fans again and I want them to know where I am," the notorious X-rated movie star told the Sun from her home in Vancouver yesterday.
"The world has somehow made me a legend, and this legend's not going to hide. All I want to do is have fun again. I think Canada needs to jack up, jack up, jack up the fun."
Star, who once made a movie called Marylin Whips Wall Street, spent three months last year in a U.S. federal penitentiary - under her real name, Kathryn Gannon - for insider trading after a New York investment banker gave her stock tips in bed and she passed them on to a New Jersey businessman, netting $80,000 US in the process.
Born in Edmonton, Gannon moved to B.C. at the age of three and went on to learn ballet, tap and folk dancing. Eventually she returned to her hometown as a stripper before graduating to blue movies in 1994, when her career really took off.
The investment scandal made headlines all over North America just after she retired from the porn industry. With her jail days behind her, she started renewing her peeling career on Canadian stages last year. The 34-year-old said she has dreams of working for a veterinarian someday, but for now the sex business is too tempting.
"The adult entertainment industry has given me huge self-esteem," she said. "I like the adulation and the fans. And I'm an exhibitionist. I love sex in public, sex with strangers."
Star-struck fans can get her autograph at Source Adult Video, 7404 101 Ave. Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the 11824 St. Albert Tr. location.
"We're all very excited," said store manager Carmen Haywood.
