couple of hogs carrying the grey cup to the podium had to wear their sam browne's around their ribcages because their guts were so supersized! too many doughnuts for those boys!

other than that, it was the perfect game - go lions!

that's another reason why criminals are not afraid of cops in canada! Or cops keep using real guns for any cases! in general, more than 50% of cops in canada are unfit to be cops!

They don't have to catch you in a foot race, all they gotta do is put a 9mm in the back of your head as your running away.Criminals aren't afraid of the sentences that they get from the criminal justice system here in Canada.
All you gotta do is tie an apple fritter to a running machine & wa la! problem solved. Hell if you wanna kill sombody here in Canada, all you gotta do is run them over & all you'll get is a couple points on your drivers license & lose your 40% discount on your insurance, man that's a sad statement :-( RCMP bring it on themselves i guess? Such an old boys club.

I know....I noticed that too and thought the same thing. Why not two RCMP constables that didn't look like they just came off of donut duty, some that looked a bit more professional and not half in the bag.

couple of hogs carrying the grey cup to the podium....!
Pretty distasteful comment vancity on a happy celebratory night. For all we know, this might have been the highlight of their careers.... to carry the grey cup on victory night......and you just label them hogs. Do you know either of them? Do you know what kind of dangers they've faced, personal struggles they've had, because of their demanding career choice. Both of them look a little long in the tooth......so they've obviously put in some time risking their lives for us and have earned the right to wear the red uniform.

Shift work....callouts...working Christmas and New Year's Eve and Day when we are out celebrating/sleeping/pooning.....all resulting in poor personal lives.

There are few career choices more stressful than theirs. And stress causes hormonal changes that very often lead to weight gain, despite caloric restrictions. The average cop's lifespan is much shorter than most of us for that reason.

Those cops were not anywhere near as big to warrant a comment like that....who do you think would have more success hand-cuffing a large Hell's Angel......the two of them or two 140 lb 5'4" uber athletes. Ever watch the world's strongest man competition.....the winners always seem to have substantial bellies.

Come to think of it.....I don't think I've ever seen a cop eating a donut...and I've been to Tim's plenty of times. In the movies (comedies) ...cops are always eating donuts...reality is different. The cops I've seen at Tim's are always ordering coffee.....likely to keep themselves awake despite their terrible sleep cycles.

Those cops were not young.....likely having put in their time and their fair share of foot chases and struggles. And how often do you see a cop in a foot chase?.....The dog's and K-9 handlers do that..And most cops drive cars...why be stupid and run and tire yourself out...when you can use your radio to communicate where a subject is fleeing...use cars...helicopters...other cops....and when the subject is finally caught they are too exhausted to fight.

A cop's survival depends on being able to quickly engage and win in a close-in struggle (not a prolonged struggle as that is not ideal as there is much more chance of injury to both the cop and the suspect)...there's no award for an MMA style graceful fight....and a big cop is going to have a tremendous advantage over someone smaller.

Calling those guys "hogs" is no less distasteful than calling a homosexual person a f$g or a black person a n*&&$r.

Have some respect for 2 people you do not know....and enjoy the victory for what it was.

Two large hell's angels! if you talk this to a very experienced chinese cop, he'll tell you that "it's f**king easy". Cops are supposed to use force appropriately. I can bet you that Randy Orton and The Rock can f**king beat the crap out of two large hell's angels. Other people give you face and respect, but you are the only one who can shame yourself. They are the BIGGEST LOSERS! They should have gone to that USA TV show! Remember that our tax money goes to cops too. Do they know what fitness means?

Sorry there is no excuse for fat cops.

Try to stay focused and on topic...
A ) Yes and no, I think blackcad put it reasonably well, there is a reason for them, though if the support system was there, and the force hadn't gone PC there would be no excuse for them.

B ) I am on topic as far as replying to mercyshooter is concerned. Take a good look at the posting history of this idiot as far as "Chinese Cops" are concerned. I'm just surprised he hasn't claimed they are able to walk on water.

Very well said,

there seems to be a disdain for any type of Law Enforcement by certain individuals on this board, I don't really understand it, typically that kind of attitude is one held by criminals.

Have some repect these guys put their lives onthe line everyday, when was the last time you did that?

Again no real opinion on cops. I treat them decently so they treat me in kind - even though not too long ago I was someone they should have been treating harshly. But this "cops put their lives on the line everyday" thing really does need to be put in perspective. Yes cops that work a beat in a major city do. Yes specialized cops who do search and seizures of big drug houses and crime houses do. But the majority only place their lives in danger theoretically ie run over during a road side stop or hazards in a building they get called to at night. In Moncton violent crimes are commuted with a knife, and personally I like my chances bringing a gun to a knife fight. The last time I heard of a "dangerous" man there was Alan legere and that has to be about 20 years ago. So there is theoritical danger for these people but it's no more than say construction workers working roadside, at heights or near live equipment.

Yes mayorthorpe or whatever it was called in Alberta was tragic but alot of that was preventable with better thinking ie how they originally dealt with the man and then how they were approaching the house.

Anyways I treat cops like anyone else. Well. And like most people they end up treating me well.

i have no problem whatsoever with police in general, they do a necessary job and are often hamstrung by idiotic rules put in place by politicians

what i do have a problem with is a couple of extremely overweight individuals being selected for a job in which they are representing the force, and in a way all canadians. and yes they were senior members, and yes us old folks have a difficult time keeping our weight down, and yes blah... blah... blah... but i maintain that a couple of porkers should not have been chosen for that job no matter how exemplary their careers have been. i for one was ashamed at the image they presented

i was also ashamed that our federal minister of defence showed up for the opening ceremony wearing friggin' JEANS fer fuck's sake... he could have worn a proper suit for the ceremony then changed into jeans for the game. the juxtaposition of him in jeans and the senior members of the forces all decked out in their military finest, made mackay look like an idiot. it's not like they don't have change-rooms at bc place

I noticed that too, as well as the chubby mounties...it comes down to not a good and strong visual representation of what's Canadian, the tradition of the CFL, the Grey Cup, etc. It was a great game, not a nail biter, but dramatic with a bit of animosity between the clubs playing....but the ceremonial stuff needs to better represent a stronger, got-shit-together message rather than Sgt. Crueller and Cpt. Bearclaw did.

One caveat....they did look well decorated and there was no back story on the two officers which would have better qualified why they were choosen to bring in the Cup.

I guess you haven't seen much, have you? ;) Theoretically speaking, cops can be fat. However, practically and realistically speaking, they cannot especially the front line police officers. And they have to be able to run a reasonably long distance in a short time!
