Why is Superuser here? To debate racism? I thought this was an escort review board yet when I check his posts/threads all he is about is racism.

Actually, I'm trying get people to be non-racist. There seems to be a heavy anti-EI bias amoung certain members of the board, and their views keep going unchallenged. The EIs on this board can't seem to put two sentences together (sorry, but that's the way it seems), so I thought I'd try to find out where the biases are coming from.

Also, I've never started a thread on a racist subject. I've only replied when others have done so. I agree that the board should be and escort review board only.

When PeterLongWood started this thread, he never hinted nor mentioned any racial slurs. Why do people always like to use the race card every single time someone mentions a thread that involves non-whites?
Again, this thread follows the usual pattern: posting by one of the "usual suspects", and comments by the others. I didn't object to anything that was said until Stiffdeadman's comment. That was the racist comment that I replied to. PeterLongWood's initial comment was not racist, but I would argue that the reason he posted it was because it involved EIs. He, JJ, Stiffdeadman, and a few others ALWAYS reply when a thread concerns EIs.

When I started this thread I just thought it was a newsworthy topic as it involved both the largest mass murder and most expensive criminal trial in Canadian history.

However, as the thread progressed I realized what a sad story this really is. Malik Jr. was probably the pride of his family and community - a real success story. Son of immigrants made good: our son/nephew/cousin, the lawyer. He threw it all away, betrayed his oath, all to cheat the taxpayers of Canada to pay for the defense of his father - a mass murder. Sad. I'll bet the EI community, which was probably so proud of him, just feels shame. Sad.

Absolutely agree. I'm not here to defend the actions of the Malik family, or any other EIs who have problems with the law, beat their wives, etc. If he loses his licence, he will be getting what he deserves. Discussing what some EIs (or members of any other group) have done is fine, as long as it doesn't cross over into generalizations - that's where the problems start. There are lots of people who cheat the taxpayers of this country, but there doesn't seem to be much concern about them.

Who's the one guilty of generalizations? Who's the one who wrote:

PLW this is quite something that you said...ALOT of people should reflect on the words. The average EI is just another human being trying to get thru this life and yet so many are still fighting the 'home land war' and many average people get killed.

And when a son, I guess, being loyal to the father fucks up, its hard for many to look past and we generialize - I admit I am guilty of that too! I know though that if I meet the average EI I will treat him as another human, but yet when you see and read these issues its hard not to condem the whole bunch.

Superuser, you do have to admit that to the best of my knowledge no white guy, original Canadian, has caused such mass destruction...and for me growing up in a peaceful country it is not something I know nor is it something I can fully understand...thus it is easy for me to abhor it and 'generialize the entire race...especially when I see that justice has NOT been served..

Ok I am off my soap box now

As I said, I first posted a reply to stiffdeadman's comment. It grew from there. No one really objected to what he said, so I did (JJ's response was a bit weak).

But you've got to admit, you're always quick to jump in on these types of threads, and usually the comments are not exactly flattering to EIs.

Anyway, I've made my point. If you really aren't biased, then great! Judge everyone as an individual, but judge them firmly and fairly (ie. throw the book at Malik Jr. and get some of the public's money back).

Absolutely agree (and thankfully so). Just because there was unrest in India at the time does not excuse murdering innocent people here in Canada. I too want the crime solved - it's simply not good enough to say that we did our best. But again, the Air India bombing was the action of a few individuals. And, as far as I know, there hasn't been an incident similar to it since (again, thankfully so).

As for the actions of Malik Jr., I wouldn't be as charitable. Sure, he was trying to defend his father, but he stood to inherit his share of the family's wealth at some point.

Why is it anytime someone posts a topic involving an ethnic member doing an illegal activity another person has to cry 'RACISM'? I don't follow the board religiously but when I see other posts about whites committing crimes and no one calls out racism against whites.

Being white in this day and age sucks because every ethnic member wants to sue the ass off Caucasian people for racism. Caucasian people have it tough because their culture is dying. All the mainly white countries have to let every creed and colour in their country otherwise racism is called.

I hate people using the race card because ALL cultures are racist to some degree.
Again, I didn't object until Stiffdeadman made his comment. Do you agree with his statement? Discussing crimes by minorities is fine. Don't generalize and say that the entire minority is at fault or that all members of that minority are the same.

MALIK AND HIS FAMILY-these folks are not supported by the indo-cdn. community at large because the MALIKS are sikh secessionists (anti-india pro-khalistan) who identify themselves less with punjabi or india culture.

MLA David Hayer's father was assassinated in 1998 by khalistani sikhs because the hayer were moderate sikhs and pro-india.

For me the Malik are the enemies of indo-cdns. and they take the religion of sikhism towards the far right.

These Khalistanis did not necessarily want to kill the passengers but intended to blow up the empty plane to send a message to the Indian govt; however, the bomb was detonated when passengers were on board. all the passengers were indo-cdn, mostly canadian hindus were killed along with some sikhs.
SO HOW CAN INDO-CDN. CONSIDER MALIKS OR THEIR GROUP AS THEIR OWN WHEN THE VICTIMS WERE INDO-CDNS.

Superuser69, Answer me this, Why is it that the only time you post is on EI related threads. As was said by other users you seem to have a huge chip on your shoulder. Are you sure you are not EI? If not why do you feel that you have to be the Hero to right all posts that hint at anything racist towards EI's? I don't see you posting when anything racist is posted about Asians. Are only EI's worthy of defending from racism?

In the past, stiffdeadman asked which weapons were best in dealing with an EI "problem". From what I can tell, that thread has been deleted. I've never seen anyone else ask such a question about any other minority on this board. No one opposed him. Some actually made suggestions.

And I don't post on all EI threads: the one with the EI who killed a woman while racing his car for example. I agreed that he should have been deported. That thread also degenerated into name-calling etc. Asians seem to do a lot better defending themselves on this board than EIs (some posts are painfull to read). In one of my posts, I did talk about how Natives were systematically cheated to make way for a "better" society. And as I've said, I have EI friends and I don't like to hear negative comments about their entire race, so it's a bit personal in that regard.

But point taken. From now on, if someone like stiffdeadman asks how best to go about beating up and possibly killing EIs, I'll ignore it.

I didn't say you posted on all EI threads I said you only post on EI threads. From the search I did there wasn't a single thread that you posted in that wasn't EI related. It's like you are waiting in the wings to jump on the slightest post that could be EI racism. I'm glad you are on Perb to make sure we all stay EI politically correct.

When your best friend is EI, it gets a bit personal. But again, point taken, and you are correct, I guess I have been doing that, and re-reading some of my posts, I have been overly aggressive. I'll offer my apologies to anyone who I've called racist who isn't (even stiffdeadman!).

typical east indian thought process of not wanting to pay for anything and trying to rip people off.
So, why don't you explain a little bit more about the typical east indian thought process? I know lots of east indians who don't try to rip people. Shockingly, the majority of east indians.

The only thought process in question here should be your stupidity. Congratulations on being able to use the internet though.

I've done alot of work for EI's and have to say from my experiance they always are fair and pay on time without any trouble. Unlike some of my Caucasian brothers who still owe me money from Nov/06. So not a really fair sentiment about typical mindset.

This is on the website of the Law Society. The alleged Air India bomber's son is a lawyer. It appears he is being investigated by the Law Society for his conduct in attempting to get taxpayers to pay for his father's defence.

What do you think?

I don't know how good your reading comprehension is, but since you started this thread I wish you would have paid more attention. Maybe you don't understand the difference between being investigated of something and actually be determined to have done it.

So, please be clear and recognize the difference between being investigated for something and being punished for it.

A good example to follow is the murder case of OJ Simpson. He was investigated and even tried for committing an act. However, it was determined that he was not guilty of committing the acts he was investigated for.

Also, do you think the "white" community would be disappointed if one "white" lawyer was investigated for an ethical violation? This is the same thing except he was "east indian." Did the "white" community lose pride when Gordon Campbell was convicted of drinking and driving?

As well, Malik was found not guilty. Which means you have no basis to call him a mass murderer. However, it seems there is a basis to either call you ignorant, racist or prejudiced. I'll let you decide.

Simpson was found guilty in the civil case. I'm sure Malik would be just as guilty if it was a civil case. But like simpson, good luck getting the money.

Malik Jr's trial is scheduled for March 5 - 16, 2007. So I guess the "investigation" is over, and once the trial is concluded we'll know if he's "guilty" -- so point taken. But if I was associated with Malik I'd be ashamed that he's even being put on trial. I guess some people don't think being tried for acts of criminality is anything to be ashamed of, but I do.

As for Malik Sr., I think there are over 300 families who would say there is a very good basis for calling him a mass murderer, regardless of the outcome of the trial. He may be technically "not guilty" but anyone who says he's innocent is either lying or a fool. I'll let you decide.
