EDMONTON -- A former Edmonton banker who stole more than $16 million from the Bank of Montreal and blew it on fast women, fast cars and expensive jewelry was sentenced to more than seven years in prison Friday.

Nick Lysyk, 54, showed no emotion as he was sentenced by Justice Paul Belzil in Court of Queen's Bench.

The sentence, seven years and four months, was recommended in a joint submission by the Crown prosecutor and Lysyk's lawyer, Brian Beresh.

Belzil labelled the term a ``just and fit sentence.''

So he'll be out on day parole in a little over a year if he's not a flight risk or a danger to the community. 29 months if he has to wait for full parole. Thats pretty good for 16 million!!! Go Lysyk!
