So it's supposed to be something really worth while to catch. I didn't really understand why my 2 local parks had over 40+ people camped out in the chilly weather. Saw it and said Meh, the broncos game is on....head home. Maybe it takes a person of a certain age to appreciate it? Maybe in 30some odd years later for me.

Did anyone else see it tonight?

Well, it's kinda like someone put a curtain over the big spotlight in the sky, and its a red curtain. So, I'm thinking the song - Roxanne, you don't have to put on the red light? It is actually amazing, as it rarely happens. I'm still looking for the blue moon.....

it takes people with a certain appreciation for nature and the grandeur of the universe :) doesn't matter what age I was obsessed with this stuff starting in my early 20s!

I saw it as it was rising. It was almost completely black with a tinge of red. I seen a lunar eclipse before. It's not a big deal. I prefer the larger orange harvest moon myself.

Hard to tell if that was serious or not, but for anyone who is interested and doesn't already know: a "blue" moon is just a second full moon to appear in the same month. The "blue" isn't about its colour. It's a corruption of the word "belewe" which means "betrayer".

Thank you. I've always said when the moon turns blue.....I've never realized it was an actual reality. When I told someone, "when the moon turns blue", I thought it didn't actually happen and was a way to put them off. Like green eggs and ham.

From what I understand us westerners got the short end of the stick. It was more visible back east and in the mid west. I saw it, took a few minutes to find it as it was a dark red. Watched it as it gradually got brighter. Most of the 'buzz' is because the moon is at it's closest right now, a "super moon", so I imagine a lot of people had some pretty high expectations.

btw why are some of you saying it's cold out?

I'm still walking around in a t-shirt.

We're supposed to be Canadians, dammit!

on a more serious note, i watched it with an old pair of ww2 vintage marine binoculars with VERY good optics - nothing short of spectacular!

and when the little white sliver started reappearing right on schedule, that was the icing on the cake. a couple of dudes had some small refracting telescopes set up on tripods, they must have seen quite the show
