I know 2 people who won $5 million (each, at different times), and one person who won $100 000.
I won $1800 once, a long time ago.

The first couple that won, invested and continued to work. They're still doing well.
The second guy that won blew his money on hookers and blow. And trusting some drunk at a bar who pretended to be a financial advisor, offered to invest his money, but gambled it away instead.
The 3rd guy paid off his mortgage and didn't have much else left after, but he lived comfortably.

Thats what i was going to say, stay clean pennies can be good, but odds are against you unless you know something.Tough market last couple years , i did ok. Nothing big tho, just beer money kinda.

I personally don’t gamble or play the lottery. I may buy a scratch ticket every 2 years if it looks at least fun to do. I just have never had an interest in the lottery, casinos or gambling. But yes, I do know of people who have won the lottery.

I used the be an exotic dancer to put myself through college and during my 20’s, when I was in Toronto. One of the other dancers one a few million dollars.I remember one of my friends who was friends with her being upset because when she won it, she ditched her friends and this friend who had lent her money a few times when she needed it. As soon as she won she stopped talking to all of her stripper friends and no one heard from her again.

My dad won the Princess Margaret lottery a few years back in Toronto. (Yes I am from Toronto) He won a brand new car worth $40,000. This particular lottery you can win cash or prizes. Over the years he’s won a few hundred dollars here and there too… but he has been playing lotteries since I can remember.

So it does happen. People do win, but I would prefer to put my money into investments opposed to playing the lottery where it’s more likely to have some kind of increase in money invested. It just makes more fiscal sense to me.

Long ago, 1997, on a road trip stopped for gas, and also grabbed a lottery ticket seeing the sign there at the gas station.
Checked it about a month later, and had won a little bit more than $286k.
I was young, 20, and working at a Honda dealership, while also taking courses to become an automotive technician aka mechanic.
First thing I bought was a big fancy Snap On tool box, and a lot of tools that I dreamed of owning but couldn't afford.
A new F150 4x4, boat racks for it, a new boat and motor, camping gear, and then began house shopping.
Bought a house, new furniture, kitchen items, kick ass stereo, and TV.
There wasn't a lot of money left, but I saved the last of it.
That help set me up for the rest of my life.
I buy a big jackpot pack weekly still, win a little bit here and there, nothing significant, at the most $3600 once.
Small chance of winning sure.
But 0 chance if I don't play.
