Actually, I believe global warming is a naturally occuring cycle that the earth goes through. and that there have been instances when the earth was actually warmer than it is now.

I've been trying to propose that a possible explanation is due to solar activities which is also causing changes to the Martian environment and all our efforts to focus on the green house gases is the wrong way to go. We should be focusing on over all environmental issues and not just accept one theory. It got me a bloody nose at my activist meeting for my efforts. Which is why it pisses me off that any one would try to muzzle any differing scientific opinions. Only narrow minded control freaks would try to suppress freedom of speach.

With all the alternative-energy modes of transportation out there, Suzuki and his entourage are crossing Canada in a sprawling, "rock-star-style" diesel-burning tour bus, emitting more greenhouse gases during his 30-day tour than many of us do in a year.



Suzuki could at least have found a biodiesel bus, which emits far less greenhouse gases than conventional diesel.

Fascism and Communism, at least in practice, share the element of authoritarianism, but their foundational ideologies are at opposite ends of the spectrum.

Communism is based on socialism, or society as a collective. Marx envisioned a society where the people controlled the political and economic systems collectively. In practice, Socialists found that only a centralized government could accomplish this (and even then, they did a poor job of it).

Fascism is based on individualism to the extreme, which is political elitism.

Communism is based on equality, collectivism, and serving the needs of the state. Fascism is based on the idea that only the "elite" should have political power. This can mean blind obedience to the military, extreme sexism and racism, and disdain for people who are not physically "perfect".

Stalin liquidated the Kulaks because they refused to collectivize for (in his mind) the greater good. Hitler targetted Jews (among others) because they didn't fit the Aryan ideal. Both dictators utilized similar techniques, but their governments were founded on radically different ideologies.

Stalin nationalized all industries, but Hitler allowed corporations and private enterprise to run free. That much of the production was targetted towards strengthening Germany's military and industrial base did not stop Germany's capitalists from profiting privately.

Fascism, in its purest forms, commands citizens to obey the ruling elite, which can mean many things that, to some, can SEEM "left" in nature, but are really not. "Serving the State" is not a left or right entity.

And before anybody coughs up Hitler's "National SOCIALIST Workers Party", that was a political movement designed to gain public suppport through superficially appealing to centre-left policy. Hitler, and Mussolini, both abhored leftist thinking in all forms, despite the fact that Mussolini's family, in his early days, were once Socialists.
