Stryker, One of the great benefits of living in this Democracy is that we are all able to express our free opinions. Where I come from in Europe, this has not always been the case. I happen to think my joke is funny. I have no control over subseqent jokes not posted by myself. I fail to see how a Polish name can be considered racial in context. Please clarify. Racism refers to beliefs, practices, and institutions that discriminate against people based on their perceived or ascribed "race". Primarily, it refers to an assumption that the human species can meaningfully be divided into races, together with hostility to people of certain races or a belief, conscious or unconscious, that people of different races differ in value. Some people whose thinking about others uses racial categories believe that different races can be placed on a ranked, hierarchical scale.
My initial post on this thread does not even hint of such intent. I have lots of Polish friends who do not take offense with this joke, so please explain to me, and others on this board, what your problem is.
BTW Asian, Jew or Hindu are not nationalities. German, Polish, Russian etc. are not "races".
You might want to read my post again and give the matter a bit more thought.

Anyone remember Zbignew Brzezinski? Born in Warsaw Poland.
He was Jimmy Carter's National Security Advisor. He was a key player in luring the Soviets into Afghanistan. It was The Soviet's Vietnam.
Indeed, for almost 10 years, Moscow had to carry on a war unsupportable by the government, a conflict that brought about the demoralization and finally the breakup of the Soviet empire.
He once said: "What is most important to the history of the world? The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet Empire? Some stirred-up Moslems or the liberation of Central Europe and the end of the cold war?"

They were pretty much demolished when Reagan came in and provided the Stinger missiles, and the stupid (American) public are always ready to believe in the silver bullet solution, so thus believed that one piece of technology won the war. Reagan and his advisors were never capable of engineering the defeat of a major power. The Stinger was a PR coup for Reagan, but the real credit for the plan to destroy the Soviets goes to Brzezinski.
