Noticed some fake ads on LL with clearly fake pictures, not sure how they get business & surely there must be a cost to putting up the ads.

Does anyone how much it costs to put up one single ad on LL?

And how much does it cost to refresh that same ad?

Quick points.

1. They do their business in Euros, and you can only buy Euros using Bitcoins which you transfer into your wallet. So even before you post there's a double dip in exchange and service fees when converting your CAD to BT to Euros. And it changes every day/hour depending on how BT is doing.
2. The standard ad is € 4.29, verified ad is € 3.43.
3. You can buy a pack of "bumps" to move your ad back to the top but they're not that much cheaper than an ad.

Feel free to calculate how much a micro must be spending daily at LL. I'm almost curious enough to crunch the numbers.

LL is like CL. If you want max exposure you need to stay on page one. Not sure why but most guys decide who they will call before they move to page 2. (better chance if they are filtering with a key word and you have that in your ad)

High times of the day (2 pm until 11 pm) ads stay on page one for 45 minutes. Sooo if anyone wants to stay on page 1 you need to bump every 45 minutes.

Most of the fake ads are not verified so that's 4.29 euro every 45 minutes for 9 hours.

9 hrs x 60 minutes divide by 45 = 12 bumps x 4.29 = 51 euro = $74 cad (everything rounded) per ad per day. If you want featured ad double that.

As stated if bumps bought in pack think get 17% discount.

Numbers crunched lol.

As confirmed in another thread, it appears the majoirity of those fake ads are published by the LL admin! Checking the Alexa Score ,LL only has a monthly revenue of around $150 us dollars nationwide. S obviously there is only a handful of paid advertisers .

I can't speak to the fake ads but using Alexa Score isn't a valid form of estimating traffic since

"Data for their ranking system is based on traffic provided by their “global data panel”. This data is gathered from internet users who use one of the browser extensions available for Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer etc."

Besides, traffic doesn't determine the amount of money providers pay to advertise on a regular basis. At best it would be a way of showing providers why they should pay them on a regular basis.

Good points and the most useful info. I'm guessing most advertisers won't bump for the full 9 hours. I'm guessing they simply do one posting on that day and leave it at that. Didn't know it costs an additional 4.29 euro just for one bump.

So likely everytime they post an ad its about 30-40 assuming a few bumps and another 5-10 for the exchange and service fees mentioned by vanperb

Maybe 40-50 CAD per ad then on average

Unless the bulk of fake ads are LL Themselves which in that case means they’re completely free.
If the ads are free, what's stopping one from creating an ad warning others? I have seen this before in the old backpage and craigslist days.

They have totally been caught posting fake ads so that it makes people who are buying ads to need to "bump" more and spend more money.

Just the fact that ladies have to spend Canadian dollars for Euro’s worth of cryptocurrency says all you need to know about how shady it is.

How about I create a website with actual verified users, no fake ads, payment in Canadian dollars... and a section like adult gigs like the old fun days of nonpros. Who’s with me?

Everything but payment. Go look into how to do payments, especially in CAD. There's a reason people use bitcoin. The moment you start taking payments for ads, you'll trigger attention from the CRA, RCMP, and probably a couple of American agencies. Even dispenseries who are perfectly legal in every way still have an incredibly hard time opening business accounts from financial institutions, let alone billing through them.

But absolutely go for it. Competition is always good, and I appreciate people who put their money where their mouths are.

I always thought the sale of sexual favours in Canada was perfectly legal, and if it’s a legit company that pays its fair share of taxes, what is the real issue? What I want is a straight forward platform without having Asian Fever and hundreds of spam MP ads running amuck all day every day.

Vancouver is an expensive city but if ladies are spending upwards of $150-200 a day just to post ads, something doesn’t make sense.

Based on the math up there and on how often ads stay on page 1, it seems they are spending 40-60$ max on average for most in one day

Well in terms of taxes, SP's dont pay taxes at all so it evens out.

For most SP's at their income level they should be deducting something about 30-45% in taxes but they get to keep it, these business expenses are small compared to their tax savings for normally employed or self-employed individuals
Thanks for flaunting your ignorance.

How dare we criticize an organization who is making so much effort to help the disadvantaged citizens in our country. Shame on us. Leolist has morphed themselves into a pillar of society. We should be praising them for their efforts.

Does anyone else get a virtue signalling vibe when reading this? Or am I just a bitch? Or...all of the above?

Wow! I did not realize their efforts for the greater good. It behooves the rest of us to make outright donations to LL.

*I want to see their tax receipt.

Yeah, I also thought about motives and content of that announcement. They chose not to do a verifiable charity work, like donating to a registered Canadian charity who could publicly list LL as their major donors.

The logistics of their alleged action is also questionable. How would European owners of LL come into possession of winter coats in various Canadian cities? There was no prior hint they were collecting such items, in fact they made an impression they have no physical presence in Canada.

*I want to see their tax receipt.
To be fair, I don't expect LL to have a registered Canadian company or want to disclose individuals working for them in Canada. Yet, it shouldn't be a problem to donate through somebody in Canada who'd ask the charity to give a public credit to LL.
