It seems this is quite common in Canada, especially in Vancouver despite the very low Canadian dollar where people are traveling outside of Canada and paying upwards to 45-50% more as a result of the exchange rate which impacts all currency transactions. Some of the resolutions are:

Enjoy life to the fullest
Live a healthier lifestyle
Lose weight
Save more, spend less
Spend more time with family and friends
Pay down debt

Took me a couple years after a breakup. My ex was quite sick and I wracked up tens of thousands of dollars in debt. Well long story short, she got better and left me hanging with the debt.
Started paying off the smallest debt first, then moved to the ones with the highest interest and finally the low interest ones. Cut up all my credit cards except one. Now I never carry a balance and have managed to get savings again. I will say the whole experience left me truly jaded about monogamy and I'll just stick with the sp's from now on and save my money.
Hope everyone has an awesome new year.

Not for me. The only debt that invades me is mortgage debt, which isn't a bad thing because eventually that turns to profit. In 2016, I plan on paying down my high rise Condo a lot more than previous years. Hope 2 pay it off within 10 years time.

At the same time.....still jack up my T.S.F.A and R.R.S.P.

I'm pretty good at managing my own finances. Simple rule......never spend more than what you make and invest, invest and invest for the long term :thumb:

Being young and dumb I ended up with some consumer debt as well as a large student loan(grr). Getting rid of these are fairly important to me, because I hope to one day obtain a mortgage. If one doesn't care to obtain a mortgage, they might still want to pay off their debts, because even renting requires a credit check.

My only debt is my mortgage, car was paid off in 2 years, I'm paying the bare minimum on the place, went up 75k in 2 years, going to try and sell it in 2 or 3 years and move to Texas or somewhere else where they have E85, nice weather and houses are only around a 160k freehold.

Look left. Way left.

Doing similar thing. Dropping $50k a year on the mortgage. Once that's done I'll reevaluate my situation and likely move to better climate with friendlier people. Southern Europe. Latin america. Southeast Asia.
