LG you have made my point for me........

I said when Madonna has spent 49 million of her money, come talk to me.....

I said nothing about taxes.

When a "commie pinko" hears spend 49 million he immediately assumes that was in tax dollars. How could anyone spend that much money without a government doing it for them?

A " commie pinko" believes government is the middle man in every single transaction.

A neo-con believes individuals can make a bigger impact than government.

If government spending could solve the worlds problems we would have eliminated, poverty, ignorance, crime, obesity, and global warming....to mention just a few.

The best thing government can do is get the fuck out of the way.

that's just MY point ... the government SHOULD NOT have to keep coughing up for all this shit (they are spending tax money, after all) and instead someone like Madonna or DeBeers or whoever else has a bunch of wealth they don't know what to do with should pay if they want ...

but why should i as a lousy taxpayer have to pay for shit i don't want?

if someone wants to make an impact with their money, good for them ... but i WANT ... nay, DEMAND! the government STOP spending MY money on shit that has nothing to do with me!

selfish? why not? but i don't need some has-been rocker pulling some gov't guilt trip to keep his little ego happy when its on my dime!

nothing to do with me?

let's see now

if one is a nihilist, then this life's is all there is, so the only things worth doing are those which, directly or indirectly, benefit oneself - so others are only important in the sense in which they can be used (even if it be so nicely)

if one believes in a God or some kind of divine order, that implies, like it or not, an ethical and moral behaviour and a recognition of humankind being by nature intimately connected - then one is close to or distant from Godliness or the divine order as determined by one's empathy with, and care for, others

if one is an atheist but not an nihilist, then one's behaviour during this life determines the conditions of one's next life, and one avoids the realization of implicit unity of all at one's peril

so when comtemplating the suffering in this world, particularly in those parts where the suffering is extreme and life is so miserable that we cannot imagine it at all, pick your stance according to your fundamental beliefs and either help or not - as for governments, in this matter, they are to represent a collective action that speaks of the mind and heart of the broad majority of society (exceptions noted)
