My buddy talked me into watching this guy playing on TV. He plays for NY Knicks and is really good. A great Asian basketball player who went to Harvard! Wow!

His full name is Jeremy Lin and scored 38 points against the Lakers while Kobe scored 35, I think.

He's a good player who was overlooked by U.S. colleges and NBA scouts because he doesn't fit the prototypical mold for a point guard. He wanted to go to UCLA or Stanford, but their coaches took one look at him and said he didn't look like a basketball player. By his senior year of college, he was good enough to be the starting point guard for most of the major Division I schools. Think of him as a poor man's version of Steve Nash or John Stockton.

If you have any knowledge of knicks basketball, there is no one left on the team to score and bring the ball upcourt . When carmelo and amare come back they will need and ask for the ball which will negate lin's production . This is a five minutes of fame scenario

Really , so if you have watched knicks basketball you would have seen that all plays rotate and start around carmelo , hence he is the death to any point guard . In your words " Mello needs to stop being so selfish " he cant its in his DNA , can u name the point guard that feed him the ball in Denver ? Times up , you couldnt . When another scorer like amare comes back also, its obvious lin's ppg will drop significantly . Its ok to have a man crush hunka , just dont hide it behind your alleged basketball knowledge. This is a five minutes of fame scenario

He is making a minimum salary, around $750,000 this year. If he can keep playing well, he might be making $5 million next year, which is the average salary for NBA player. For now, he doesn't even have a place to live. He has been crashing at his brother's or friend's apartment!

He has his chance... he's a thinking guard, if he works hard and keeps learning, he'll do fine. The challenge will come not from the return of Amare or Melo... but as teams will now be watching tape to anticipate his tendencies and figure out how to stop him. This is good news for Amare and Melo's return. Amare is one of the best finishers of the pick and roll in the league, since Lin has the options of stop and shoot or twist change speeds and drive past you, very Nash-esque (or Stockton-esque ), that pair will do fine. Melo's production won't drop off but the team will do better with someone else starting the offense, Melo gets his points either way, it's a question of getting others involved so at the end of the game you can't just focus on shutting down one guy...

Remember that Steve Nash was drafted a 2nd backup point guard... now a 2 time MVP and has better career shooting numbers than Larry Bird!
Greg Oden was drafted number 1... nuff said. It doesn't matter where you start in the league, it's how you develop over time that matters. A thinking floor general point guard that can score himself or create for others playing for Mike D'Antoni... one of the best things in the league to watch...

I'm pulling for the kid (as are the MILLIONS of "retired" Yao Ming fans in Asia)

He could definetly help Stoudamire, who is a pick and roll player, who had his best years playing with a creative point guard. Before Lin, the Knicks were counting on Iman Shumpert to be that guy. Shumpert may be a decent player with some experience but now is out for the season. If Lin can get Stoudamire something better then an 8 footer after they rotate then it will work. That's if Anthony doesn't screw it up.

For some reason Carmello Anthony gave up on team play when he left the Orangmen, too bad because it won him and Jim Boehiem a championship. Now he is basically a spot up shooter with a crappy attitude. If he demands enough touches to score 30 every night while going 12 for 28 then the Knicks will continue to be the Knicks.

I'm not Knicks fan either, well not since Walt Frazier retired.

The thing is, it's hard to be a fan of the NBA as it is now. The whole thing with the "stars" wanting to play together is revolting to me. The Anthony/Knicks thing proves it may not work as well. Stoudamire was the 2nd place prize in his free agent year and has proven that he is a good second option on the right team. Adding CA to the mix makes this an almost impossible proposition. If anything it has made me a Denver fan. I have always loved George Karl and his group of non stars as well as Kevin MacHale's Rockets seem the only teams worth cheering for.

Here and There
'Melo is a ball stopper, that's all there is to it.

D'Antoni is going to run Amare straight into the ground if he keeps playing him so damn much, his body wont take it.

Scored 27 points with the game winning shot. He might be getting endorsement deals worth 15 million dollars!

Lin-sanity saves the job of D'Antoni.

Mike Bibby looks lost in the Big Apple. He's suppose to prosper under D'Antoni's system. He was a better fit in Atlanta though. I guess that's the reason Steve Nash never wanted Bibby in Phoenix. So now the Knicks have 2 expensive PG benchwarmers - Bibby and Baron Davis. ;)

great winning basket by Lin though I would also comment on poor defense by Calderon.
just waaaaay too much space. still, good for the kid in making a name for himself.

Actually I read that Calderon was tricked into that by Lin, giving him clear access and timing.

I thought this Jeremy Lin guy was just on a lucky streak, but after that last shot, I am convinced. He has real talent, is very crafty and is a real strategist. Look at the way he sets up and always seems to know where his teammates are, able to fool the opposition easily, and has very good shooting ability. He also knows how to use his "diminutive" size against the other players. While Kobe Bryant may be a far more superb and talented shooter (I just love how he can slam it from behind the board on the side), that is not everything.

After the retiring of Yao Ming, the NBA better capitalize on this one real quick. Ming was an import, but Lin is home-grown. He already has begun opening the Asian domestic market and is a sensation in the Far East. With the NFL breathing down its back, this is an opportunity for the NBA to internationalize the sport the way the NFL can't, and tap into a huge market in China and Korea.

Lastly I was disappointed with the stupid comments of the FOX columnist Jason Whitlock, making a crack about Lin's penis size. Right out of the gate, this comes out right away. WTF was going through his mind?? Not only was the comment inappropriate to sports, but it was disgustingly racist on a public forum no less. I thought Blacks knew all about being the victims of racism. I suspect there are many more like him. Idiots.

LOL.
guess might be to early to talk about all-star game, right?
So they are raptors fans that are converted to knicks fans at ACC because of Linsanity?
Or local fans (non-Raptors fans) who cheer on Lin?

It was Toronto fans....everyone likes a good story! God knows there's not enough of them. Just wish idiots would stop stupid questions like...Should he play in the All-Star game?
