I noticed that if you go log-on onto Limewire, there is a legal notice saying that they are under court injunction to stop distributing/file sharing.

So..what is the next "best" thing if Limewire isn't available?...
- that is free
- this is free of viruses, etc...

What do others use????

i haven't used limewire in a while, but just saw the warning message on the limewire site. there aren't a lot of good music programs out there anymore.

guess it's all about torrents now. i mainly use.. btjunkie, isohunt, kickasstorrents, and demonoid.

depend what exactly you want to search on, for mp3 singles i personally just google it and take my time making sure it is the right song. thank god there is youtube if i am stuck looking for a certain song. as for movies, i don't bother with that cause i rather go out and buy it.

beemp3, mp3raid, dunno what other mp3 sites you wanna look up on... then again if the song is not around, then just go get a cheap itunes pre-paid card and use that. rolling the dice is the key...

just tried out frostwire and great for looking up songs that are hard to get through google. although not gonna go tamper with it for finding movies, not worth my time honestly and patiences... thanks for the pointer "freebird".

how do you get the frostwire songs to your I-tunes?

Just find the folder that the library saves them to and right click the song - Use Itunes to open the file

Despite the injunction by the RIAA, Limewire was shut down due to Child Pornography files being up/downloaded. Why are we even discussing this on this board?
Because most of us are interested in Limewire for it's music.....

I wasn't aware of it having these type of other files.....

It's discussed as it's a common topic (downloading music), that I'm sure alot Perbers do from time to time.

Shareaza still works. You have to look up the wikipedia entry to distinguish between the real one and the fake one.... You also have to be able to recognize the correct files from the large amounts of spam files.... and you have to practice the search terms to avoid tons of porn...

For example, searching for the "Hung" tv series produces a lot of unsavoury results...

I use it mostly for tv series that I download and then burn. Refuse to pay for all of the cable networks, or wait a year to find the dvds. Currently, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire and The Walking Dead are great shows.

Not as good as it used to be for music, but you can find anything that is/was relatively popular.

I too would rather rent dvds than download movies.

http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...onkeys-resurrects-limewire-pirate-edition.ars

After a years-long battle with LimeWire, the recording industry finally scuppered the pirate ship last month, obtaining a wide-ranging injunction against LimeWire LLC and its file-sharing software. LimeWire devs were bound by the court to remove their software downloads and source code from the Web, and they had to take steps to break existing LimeWire installations. But two weeks later, LimeWire is back.

LimeWire Pirate Edition builds on the old LimeWire codebase, but it removes LimeWire's use of some centralized servers, the Ask.com toolbar, in-app advertising, and software backdoors. It also enables all the features of the "Pro" version that LimeWire LLC used to sell as a premium product.

Weird:
I tried downloading Frostwire today (twice) and when the dialog box appeard, I clicked "Run:

It then went through and showed all the files transferring...and the count going upto 7.92mb, and then at the last moment it says "connection with the server reset".

Please stay away from anything like Limewire. Just get a bit torrent client and find a good torrent website you like. If you have Windows, you should also get something like PeerBlock, check it out. . ....
