I respectfully disagree on this one. While I can believe that Calgary is more wealthy than Edmonton, it is not more wealthy than Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, or Las Vegas, to name a few cities which have thriving SP industries. There must be more to it than per capita income.

Also, if anything, wealth tends to attract SPs, not the other way around.

You can disagree, but Calgary has the highest per capita income of all cities in Canada.

Do income levels play a role in the number of SPs in any given city? Yes and no.

Calgary does have a large number of professionals and high-income earners, but that also includes women. It's a given that a majority of SPs are from "the other side of the tracks" (so to speak) who choose life as an SP over slaving away at a McJob. It seems that Cowtown has more professional opportunities available for women than other cities. Most of the other major Canadian cities have way more low-income families than Calgary, especially Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto. So that's why you guys have fewer local SPs to choose from, and most of them move from other places or tend to be temporary visitors. I'm betting that most of the SWs are shipped in from elsewhere.

Also, as it's been stated many times, Calgary is a conservative city, and the local authorities reflect that mind-set with repressive bylaws and more vigilant crackdowns on the SP trade.

Well after reading this thread I'm going out to turn down some MP's if I do not like what I see.

It's out the door for me.

Let's get the point across.

I agree, take a stand with your feet and wallet. Just leave the crappy MP's - poon a little less frequently if you have to and see quality like Daisy, Tess, Lexi, etc. It is supply and demand, and right now Calgary is not an efficient market like Edmonton or Vancouver (or Houston for that matter.)
