Brock Lesner had to withdraw from UFC 131 in Vancouver due to digestive issues as had sidelined him before. Shane Carwin will replace him. I don't know if this is a good thing or not. I was never THAT sold on Lesner.

carwin is one fight away from a title shot and he hasn't fought in over a year and has a win over one credible opponent. just send overeem up already.

Why?? I got tickets and I think it's a great fight. I'm betting Carwin at +200.
Nothing against carwin, but rumor has it only 8500 tickets have been sold.
Most of those who did want lesnar.
Its going to be hard to sell the rest of the seat, even with lesnar
That mean its probably vancouvers last card

Does Lesners appearance "coaching" on Ultimate Fighter help or hurt his popularity? I could care less personally if he is replaced I think Carwin will make for a better fight.

I think it hurts.
He's a non-fun dick.
He reminds me of a cop my friend dated, where if you know he is coming out for the evening, you know he will spoil it

is it just me or does it not matter what the event is, Vancouver rarely gets the top names of anything. it's like we get the B team of every tour or the over the hill gang. Carwin should make for a good fight though.

No matter how you slice and dice it, this Vancouver card sucks big time now that Lesnar is out. Even more so when you compare to the cards in Toronto and Montreal.

Ya lots of tickets still available and of the ones sold, alot were bought by scalpers looking to resell for a profit as evidenced by the large amount available on craigslist. Smart people who really want to go will wait until the day of the event and be able to get tickets at way less then face value. Speaking of face value, UFC didn't read the market to well. For the basically one match card they were presenting the prices were way too high. This is not Vegas. I do have to agree that with poor sales Vancouver will not be on the schedule next year. UFC has too many markets clamoring for an event that will easily sellout even with a lesser card. Been a bad week for UFC. They probably lost a few hundred thousand ppv buys over the next month with the loss of the maynard-edgar main event and now the dos santos-lesnar main event, plus with bones jones, cain and gsp all banged up until the winter it's going to be a thin summer/fall for big fights.

I think for hardcore fans Carwin vs Dos Santos is a more interesting fight since their styles match perfectly to create an explosive outcome. For the casuals lesnar is more interesting because of his notoriety.

I saw an Ad on TV the other day, saying seats still available...so it appears, the average Vancouver person, doesn't want to get ripped off by the UFC...

Let me say this and I got ripped for saying it before. UFC charges way less to go to a fight on the East Coast. Detroit, Phili etc. are way cheaper than here. Canada is an easy market for them but they will now realize they can't get away with charging such stupid amounts for tickets. There is just so many events now and PPV's, that the pricing had to and will come down.

To say Vancouver won't get another show is just plain silly. I was at The Silva-Belfort fight in Vegas, it wasn't sold out and you have to remember a lot of those seats are comped by the hotels (thank you :) ) Just in case you are wondering, Vancouver had the 6th best attendence in the history of the UFC...so not too shabby
I don't think Vancouver will never get a show again. Maybe in a few years, but with so many cities clamoring for an event i think ufc will explore those avenues first. agreed canada is easy so i think they'll hit edmonton or calgary first, as well seattle had a monsterous showing for a ufc fight night, so they've earned a ppv most likely, then there's new york city. if dana can work some magic they'll be in msg next summer. they've just scratched the surface in europe, then there's rio. that show will be huge, so they'll likely go back sooner rather then later, maybe to sao paulo. then there's australia again, and perhaps japan. lots of money to be made elsewhere before vancouver.

To be honest with you, it doesn't really matter to me if Vancouver gets another show next year or not. People get hung up on silly stuff(I understand what you mean and I don't disagree). I don't care how much the UFC is making, the fighters are making or who has the best MMA fans etc. I just wanna see good fights be it on PPV or live. Vegas is a 2.5 hour flight and a lot more fun than watching a fight here in Vancouver. Way more to do before and after. Less than two weeks and I will be there for UFC 130 among other things ;)

NY won't be getting MMA anytime soon and quite frankly why should you or I care? It has zero bearing on us. As for Seattle doing big business for UFC Fight Night, guess where a huge number of that 13,741 came from.....Vancouver. If you remember the Show in Portland with Couture in the main event.....it was far from being sold out.
I am getting the impression that the UFC is starting to lose steam...Dana is trying his best to "Pump Up" every UFC event as the latest and greatest. With boring main card events and superstars that can't finish appoints i.e. GSP...the UFC is starting to grow old in the average viewers eyes.

There's nothing wrong with the UFC that lowering ticket prices couldn't fix. The max ticket cost should be similar to a concert, about 200-250 seat. Anything above that is ridiculous.
