I have been watching previous Overeem fights, and his standup is not that great. He only throws one kick or leg...virtually no combos...So the guy definately "plods" around...According to Joe Rogan he is the best striker in the heavy weight division. What a joke of a comment...JDS would destroy Reem in a standup...Overeem has very overrated standup. He plods around the ring like a more agile Bob Sapp. But he has plenty of power and we know Brock does not like to get hit (like Sapp). I really don't like the layoff especially for Brock and the fact that he trains pretty much only with his bitches.
But fighters from Pride/Dream/K1 have only disappointed here in NA. This one is a tossup but I see Brock controlling him on the ground and submitting him in the 2nd.
Why would he need to throw combos when he has been knocking his opponents out with one punch or knee? JDS is very one dimensional compared to the Reem who has excellent boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing and a very underrated ground game. But let's not get ahead of ourselves...I have been watching previous Overeem fights, and his standup is not that great. You forgot to mention, Reem has a glass chin...hence his numerous loses...that being said, since Reem started taking roids and gaining 40 pounds + of muscle, he seems like a beast. Why would he need to throw combos when he has been knocking his opponents out with one punch or knee? JDS is very one dimensional compared to the Reem who has excellent boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing and a very underrated ground game. Lesnar has a solid gas tank. He will go 5 rounds easy but if he gets punched in the face, he won't need to.I am taking Ali, his standup is not as overrated as people think. At his size and power its a whole different ballgame, than a flyweight who can throw 3-4 punch combos.
For Brock to win, he has to be able to take Overeem down and finish him. As this is a 5 round fight, eventually he will get knocked out, if he can't finish on the ground.
I also think Overeem will have the advantage against the fence with his knees. Overeem is also training at extreme Couture for awhile now.
Brock......he still trains with his buddies only......wrestling and barbells.
Both men are huge muscle freaks, and both will gas at some point, well before 5 rounds.
For betting..........Fitch and the Cowboy are locks.
How the hell is Nate Diaz "co-main event"?
I think that is why there is so much acting for this fight, knocking the hat off, not shaking hands.
They know this is a lame co main event and want to spruce it up.
I remember literally laughing as a 20 year old Canadian pulled a Chris Benoit on him. (3 suplexes in a row)
I would be. If Lesnar is successful taking the fight to the ground, it would be interesting to see how well he would do with an opponent as big as he is. He's been "bullying" guys on the ground mostly because of his size, see the Mir and Couture fights.I am picking Reem to win, but won't be surprised if Brock wins.
Yup, he fits in the WWE.Brock will be welcomed back to the ...........WWE !!!!!! :thumb:
