The silly thing is that "Female companion" is a synonym to "escort". Both are euphemisms for prostitution in the first place so changing the label is pointless. An 'escort' is not a prostitute.
My only hope is that enough people get paranoid that there's more competition and it lowers the rates for those of us that see this nonsense as the charade that it is.
I agree Westcoast.
It's all semantics. Even worse, all of these constant changes will hurt LeoList Alexa scores, Google and Bing rankings for a while. They already took a pretty big hit on their web rankings when they changed the site's name. Flip-flopping on key search categories compounds things.
Making too many changes will impact the advertisers. You can understand their concern. Backpage has yet to amend it's advertising polices. Many of the ad's make clear reference to sexual services.
If the Canadian Govenment can't impede their will upon backpage, now and several other publications, then they're going to have a hard time enforcing the laws upon anyone else.
For a laugh WestCoast: Here's the ad's on Sweden's Backpage site. Looking at the ad's on the Swedish BP, it appears Peter McKay picked a winner when chose to copy the Nordic model. As you can see from the ad's in Sweden's BP page, it's not having any impact.
