Then I am creating my ground work and proof.

Ill make awareness to my clients.
Im reading the underwriting and talking with a couple young attorneys.

Its a scam, sex fed bs, the older members need protection. It blows my mind how much is scammed... in my 2.5 years I can't sit without trying

Fully support the petition. I think you make really good points, and have a good proposal. I think the biggest challenge is that there is such a range of providers, and one portal.

To add to that, there are a lot of ethical issues within the SW, different kinds of service providers, etc.

and as others have pointed out, some of the business models of sites may actually depend on the scammers, plus given the legality or perceived risk from banks or businesses, I’m not sure putting that faith into a website is really the way forward. But it’s a really good conversation!

I want to be transparent with you. I haven’t put a lot of “gas” into this petition yet. I’ve only shared it to one forum so far.

My plan is to hang a QR code and offer discounted services. Each client can choose to rename themselves, which protects privacy while still allowing accountability and traceability.
The landmark photo option can work, provided the office uses an API or system that can identify edits. Many institutions, including universities and teachers, already use programs that flag manipulated images, so this isn’t unrealistic.

I take this seriously is because there has been too much money lost to scams. I personally spend time educating new clients industry on how to back-search, reverse-lookup, and verify.

I appreciate the thought and efforts here, but if you think Leolist cares about a petition with 16 signatures, I am afraid you are setting yourselves up for disappointment. They wouldn't care if it had 16000 signatures. They are a private business, the .cc domain is based overseas. What they might pay attention to is a hit to the pocket, a boycott from providers and pooners alike would be the minimum to get their response. If you are truly serious, I'd suggest posting this on TERB and MERB and other places, to gain more exposure.

I was reverse looking up girls and fact checking the photos. We need a LL watchdog on it.

Many people these days act like petitions carry real weight, but most of the time they are just a feel-good exercise. They can spread fast, draw a lot of attention, and make people feel involved, even when there is no realistic path to anything actually changing. That hit me again the other day when I saw a petition calling to deport Nicki Minaj .

Similarly, I remember during covid there was a petition to name the Lost Lagoon Fountain after Dr. Bonnie Henry. Plus not that long ago a petition for Canada to apply for membership in the EU.

All the online scams are only going to get worse with readily available AI tools. In my business I have seen a ramping up of some pretty sophisticating phishing scams with very real looking documentation. I am certain everyone else with any kind of online presence is seeing the same.

I see the only way to combat this is awareness and some critical thinking. Fully acknowledged that the innocent whether newbie or computer challenged are the prime targets and that is very tough to beat.

Some say when David Bowie died the world changed. I figure when the large hadron collider got turned on, it ripped a hole in the continuum and the shite poured in. It's a different world than it was that is for sure.

Great post and nice to see someone trying to make things better.
I'm new to this business but not new to recognizing scammers. I have emailed LL several times, reported easy found scammers. Now I'm getting threatened to suspend my account. They really hate being bothered lol 😆
I don't understand why no one cares about all these nasty thieves everywhere.

Most of these polls are more just feel-good (or at least morally superior to your mom and Sanjeet in accounting) virtual signalling. I'm all for having a bit of Facebook fun, but changing the name of the "Lost Lagoon Fountain" to "Dr Bonnie Henry's Lost Lagoon Fountain" is not going to magically help us find the lagoon - and we might lose Dr. Henry too in the attempt.

LeoList, on the other han,d is a cancer and doesn't deserve to petition - it needs to be nuked from orbit :)

How about this:
A number of ladies get together, pool their resources and contact someone who has knowledge in websites related to this industry. Oh, I dunno maybe Fred Zed. They put together their own advertising site. Cal it PERBlist.cc and actually pay someone to moderate it. Now, you can take payments from scammers and then delete their ads under their violating your TOS and TOU rules; that's one stream of income. The other stream of income is posting ads from legitimate providers. They'd need to verify identity, probably the same way they use to advertise on all of the *ERB sites. After the bills (domain, hosting, bandwidth, etc.) are paid; the investing ladies and Fred split the profits.

If this does indeed become thing I'd like:
A 1% cut for the idea and the domain name suggestion.
A personal meeting with the current iteration of Fred Zed.
The undying gratitude of the ladies.

Just an idea.

Not a bad idea at all. And, as Masterpoonhunter says....make it like the old Craigslist. I'm surprised in this day and age a group of ladies haven't attempted to venture down this road and create a site. Everything is so online now.

It already exists, Tryst was created and is run by current and former sex workers in Australia. They’ve done a pretty good job of it so far too, aside from being a bit understaffed for the volume of new accounts to process. But they’ve also had to deal with scammers posing as tryst admin, trying to fool members with phishing emails. They’re pretty good about warning members and most of us can recognize the scams pretty quickly. In recent months in bigger cities, scammers are finding their way into membership using fake ID’s. Hopefully they can get a handle on that soon, because overall it is a pretty good site.

It was some years back pre all the AI crap, but I was never scammed on Craigslist. The joy of it was that the GND's, bored housewives, and adventurous types all could offer up a session. Not just the pros.

leolist says it operates with community moderation and reporting of posts. Everyone needs to register an ID and flag every scam post, every day and see if it does anything. I doubt it will but it would be a start. The scammers are paying a LOT of money to them, dozens of ads in dozens of geographies every day, so Leolist has no incentive to do anything other than keep the flow of money going. Unless it's made painful for them, it will just keep getting worse, not better.
I’ve got to the point where if they post pics of a smoking hot babe….I think to myself well ….she has to be at least moderately good looking when I get there….it’s gotten so bad and my bar has been lowered to the point that in Kamloops ….I’m happy if they have their front teeth , and I don’t step in dogshit at the front door.

Yes, I can see where staffing could be a problem. Depending on the profit side; if people were being paid enough to make it a fill time job instead of a side gig (I have no idea if this is the case) then staffing wouldn't be an issue. I don't know what the delay time is on setting up an account, but if it were one business week it may help with verification and possibly deter any fake accounts. Generally they want to set up an account asap.
