, which site or app do u used to know if the number was a dummy phone#?
I have contacts at Rogers, so it's their tools that say which provider and if it's a mobile or landlines. This is an Iristel or Distributel number, usually setup for VOIP services. They are also the providers for app numbers, they aren't legit service providers for mobile phones.

Phonevalidator.com

Put the phone number in and if you see Rogers, telus or bell then you know it's a legit mobile number but if you see distributel/irsitel then those are VoIP providers which means it's one of the app numbers

I wouldn't necessarily go that far as I've met plenty of reliable, honest ones using an app # to shield their real # from clients.
You're right that there are SPs who are usually newbies that may start with an app number before getting a second phone with a proper number. Though most reputable and legit providers dont use apps. These days all these scams followed by cartel threats are seemingly too good to be true ads, with app numbers, and usually either Hispanic or Indian listed as the ethnicity.

I'ma say 99.9% of scammers use app #s but not all SPs who use app #s are scammers
