And your point being?...
There are so many threads in this section ranging from the sublime to the hysterical. Some are quite profound while others are plain dribble. Some are informative while others are bear no interest at all.

Some people are keen on stats and some could care less. Some can look at the information and see things that others will not see while other will look at it and see nothing at all.

So, I ask while biting my tougne, with all the other threads out there did you ask "And your point being?" in this thread?

I could have added the screen count and the percentage drop to show comparisons. I could have gone on about how this year's summer box office take compares with last year. But, I decided to just put up some impressive numbers for people to read into what they want.

If someone wanted to add insight or their thoughts or want to discuss it further, that would be great. But, I guess that is not your take on this... So be it... At least you got a rise out of me.

:)

I think work to rule wanted a full blown Powerpoint presentation with animation and a embeded Excell spreadsheet thrown in.

That's what makes a film truly great nowadays - massive box office.

Unfortunately so in a lot of cases... But, there are some real gems that make a lot of money as well... Like Shrek2, it is very entertaining, not the greatest, but you could call it great.

If you go by the best picture Oscar winners from the Academy Awards, most of them are not huge money making films. Of course, not all the winners deserve their reward either.

I believe the last truely great movie to win the Oscar and was a fabulous movie was Forest Gump. I could make a point for LOTR: The Return of the King, but, IMHO it was not the best of the 5 nominations though I thought it was a great movie.
