But the most life altering STD is HIV, the next big one is Hep C and that's curable in 80% of cases.

The other viruses such as HSV I & II you can be symptom free in some cases.
Your glimmer of hope in justifying bbfs is ignoring antibiotic resistant gonorrhea plus the huge cost of hep c treatment. Not to mention unknown side effects of this new hiv prevention

I'm not condoning BBFS, pointing out the risks if safe sex isn't practiced with a civilian.
Never with an SP that has had tons of partners.

So would service providers start taking this drug and offer BBFS at a higher cost?

Those who are going to are already, and those who aren't know there is a lot more than just HIV to be concerned about.
I don't have any specific evidence, but I understand there is a much higher risk of catching other STD's, and although there may be drugs to treat them, it doesn't make the prospect any more 'pleasant.'

Any additional weapon in the arsenal is a good thing. It's all well and good preaching the gospel of bbfs abstinence, but we have to accept the obvious. BBFS feels better. A lot better. And for that reason, a substantial percentage of the population will continue to practise it regardless of the danger.

It sounds like a public health win to me. Especially after the patent expires.

The new TPP trade deal Harper signed includes significantly longer patent protection for pharmaceuticals. So don't bother considering off patent for a long time.

This reads like you didn't think before posting because you have to be smart enough to already understand the reasons for the answer, hell no.
Lol. In case you haven't noticed a disturbing trend. More SPs are advertising BBFS. Personally, the answer is the same as yours: NO; however, as you can imagine, this might lead some who are on the fence to decide to take the plunge. Incidentally, I read somewhere that more than 70% of sexually active people have HPV.

Hmmm ok so yes sex without a condom will feel better but,

Herpes 1&2; treated/controlled with anitvirals valcyclovir, acyclovir but both have potentially nasty side effects & can cause organ damage
Syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, trichomonais can all be treated with antibiotics but again you're looking at nasty side effects and helping breed resistant strains by taking them often. Plus Syphilis tests aren't even very effective in finding the virus. Lots of false negatives in the early & late stages..
Antibiotic resistant Super Gonorrhoea; the problem with treating this infection is self explanatory in the name lol
HPV; well we have a very risky Gardasil vaccine for this but is the risk worth it? I personally wouldn't take that shot for a million dollars.
Hepatitis A,B,C; well we have vaccines for A&B but they aren't 100% effective either there's a problem with a high rate of non-reaction with the Hep Twinrix vaccine (approx 10%)..& they don't last forever. Vaccines lose their effectiveness at different rates depending on the person & it's not like your body's going to send you a text or email to let you know you're not immune anymore.
Hep C is mostly a risk when sharing needles or bareback greek...so you don't have a high chance of catching it simply through unprotected vaginal sex..I think that's the only good news on my list lol.

I can just imagine what collection of nasty side effects an HIV-preventative drug will come with. Theres no such thing as a magic pill or magic shot.

Anytime you're in a non-monogamous relationship the trade off is that you really should use condoms (other than with your primary partner)

Plus theres the baby momma drama BC Babe already mentioned...
Syphilis is caused by a bacterium, not a virus.

Gardasil is no more risky than any typical vaccines out there - the benefits far outweigh the cost of disease.

And you can actually get blood work done to find out the level of antibodies in your blood stream to figure out whether you need booster shots for different vaccines. Not all vaccines offer life-time protection, some require more frequent booster schedules than other.

But seriously, who the hell would consider BBFS given all the risks.
