Lamest reason to cancel a date

Recently I had to cancel a date that was scheduled ahead of time for a pretty good reason - family decided short-notice to take a trip which overlapped with the date! Fair enough, I let the SP know about a week in advance and all was cool. A good, sound reason to cancel. But it got me thinking to what were the LAMEST (but still truthful) reasons you've ever had to cancel a date (whether you were the provider or providee?)

I thought about this because its now about a day out from when I was going to meet the SP - and yesterday I lost a chunk of skin from my thumb while doing some work on the house. Now I've got a big, nasty bandage, my thumb is throbbing, and the last thing on my mind is getting romantic with anyone (which, by the way, is why porn scenes about nurses or doctors jumping on patients is BS - if I'm in the hospital, its because I'm near-death and just want to extend my life on this planet. Sex can wait, man). So it dawned on me that if I hadn't of cancelled a week ago, I probably was going to have to cancel now - and sound pretty lame doing so! As it is, I'm not looking forward to the trip that much either, knowing its outdoorsy and I'm going to be nursing a chewed-up thumb.

Another cancellation DID happen quite some time ago. I had a business trip scheduled, found a beautiful and fun-sounding woman and had some fun texts back & forth. We set a date a couple days into my trip. I was psyched! I get to the city, open my wallet to get out the ATM card for the personal bank account .... and its not there. No problem, I'll just use a credit card to withdraw cash (dangerous precedent, I know). Oops, can't remember the PIN. Try another credit card - can't remember that PIN either. Try to get the PIN online - the bank dutifully and quickly mails it...via snail mail. Try to withdraw from the CC at the hotel lobby - no can do. Figure I'll go to a bank - but they're closed by the time I get out of my meetings. I'm not going to use another bank account so when I text her to explain what happened and why I couldn't see her (I didn't even think of saying "you can still come over, you just won't get paid! hehe!"), you can imagine her displeasure. Well deserved and pretty embarrassing for me!

The reason wasn't lame, the timing was: I made the trip to downtown, only to be cancelled because the SP was
"too tired and taking the rest of the day off." It was not even 2pm, and little more than 2 hours after I got the appointment. Icing on the cake: I was only "vetted" and booked on my 6th try. She was always fully booked or not answering texts. It was obvious to me a regular wanted the same time spot.

This was in my earlier days when I first started this hobby.

I made an appointment w/ an SP for sat night because I didn't have any plans. An hour before our appointment my buddies out of the blue text me to go out for beers. I thought about what to do, and I ended up choosing my buddies over the SP. I told the SP I couldn't make it because something came up, she wasn't pleased to say the least....

The reason for my decision was the fact that I had booked an appointment with her another time prior to this, as I arrived outside her apartment she suddenly stopped answering my texts. When I asked her what happened the next day, she said her phone fell in the toilet and as a result it wasn't working. Could have happened, but not very believable.

Just like she couldn't see me that time, I couldn't see her either....

I was man-scaping prior to heading out to the appointment when the razor caught a bit of flesh and drew blood. Wasn't sure an open wound in that area was a good thing for our plans, so I called and cancelled. I explained the situation; she laughed and was ok with it. I saw her about a week later and all was good.

On another occasion, I made an appointment and about 15 minutes before the time, I text to say I was getting close to the area and could I get a cross-street. no answer, so I parked generally centrally and waited for a response. a few minutes late, she text and said she was running behind and just hang on. And later similar. finally about 40 minutes past the time (I had essentially given up and was having a coffee before heading home), she cancelled - Apparently, she had been out with friends at dinner and didn't expect it to last that long and she was not heading out for drinks. That was lame - why even make the appointment?

Many years ago I'd made an appointment to see one of Winnipeg's well known ladies, about an hour before she called me and canceled because of family problems. No problem life happens, two hours later she's posting what a great time she's having with her friends at the keg! Wish I had that kind of family problems lol

I had something similar happen with my dog, but I think that's a perfectly acceptable reason to cancel. He's my little fur baby
Cat swallowed something and started behaving like it was choking to death. Briefly considered survival of the fittest, then had to cancel and take the pussy to the vet. Turns out taking pussy to the vet is more expensive than going out for pussy. Cat recovered but still don't know what the damn thing was choking on...

I had to cancel once due to unusually slow traffic. I think the SP would have delayed our meeting but I had another event that I could not be late for. Likely I have to take the majority of the blame for scheduling the 2 events too close together. I learned my lesson and now try to have a reasonable "safety buffer" in case there is an unexpected delay. Too be fair, any unexpected delays usually occur because of issues on the SP's part and not my own. Thanks to Google Maps, I can usually predict within minutes my eta.

As far as the lamest excuse I received from an SP was that she was waiting for a pizza. I am 99% sure she had simply double booked. This is an SP who is well known on this site and seems to have a reasonably good rep.

I have received texts or emails such as

the cat got sick and the apartment smells like puke. Ok, yuk.

Aunt Flo arrived two weeks early. Ok. :D ( I know women's cycle's can be erratic so OK)

My mother arrived three days ago unexpectedly and just won't go. Ok

I know we had a 5 PM date but I slept in all day. Ok, my spydie senses are on alert but OK.

Sorry I fucked up, I didn't do the laundry and don't have sheets, towels or anything ready Ok no prob.

And the one I respect 100% is

You know what, I just don't feel like having sex. Nothing against you but I can not take your $ because I am not into it. Can we reschedule for a later date?
