I wonder how a large number of rail cars filled with oil can roll backwards for 7 kilometres, derail, explode and kill an unknown number of people in a small town in Quebec. Negligence, sabotage? Could it happen here in BC, Alberta? Maybe a pipeline is not such a bad idea.

People who are against a pipeline seem not to realize that their is already a pipeline. It is just stitched together with trains and trucks, tavelling over our roads right next to families comfortably numb in their double-welded Volvo station wagons.

We use the oil. It needs to get here. The un-planned pipeline exists. Maybe time for a little planning and social risk reduction, or dare I say, justice.... If policy decisions were based on total cost to society of alternatives, pipelines would actually be a no-brainer. But we find too much populous sport in dissing the 'man' to let sensible policy pervail.

Yep. Oilsands petroleum is going to go to the west coast.
I wouldn't underestimate the push back on this proposed pipeline. Not just the environmental groups, not just the First Nations but MANY mainstream people are looking at Kinder Morgan's track record and here in BC there seems to be people from all sides of the political spectrum saying "not in my backyard".
