Guess he shoulda stuck to seeing sp. Cant these athletes wait till their playing days are over till they have kids or family? She didnt even have to sink a single basket

TMZ (sigh, sorry) is reporting that the $75 million figure represents half of Kobe's … er, "the couple's" total assets. The quick split and even quicker payoff (all three of his houses?) would appear to lend credibility to the idea that Kobe wanted absolutely nothing to do with his ex-wife potentially going on record to air whatever dirty laundry that emanated from what was at times a contentious and fitful 10-year marriage -- including reports of massive amounts of infidelity. One of the three mansions is even still in the construction stage, but she's getting that one too.

Check the look on his face, it's the classic "this is gonna cost me a ton of dough" look. Once a guy hits a certain status financially, even $1 mil or so in net worth, or is in a position where it's inevitable he will (pro athlete etc) he's crazy to get married pre-nup or not. Especially the brothers 'cause everybody knows they can't keep it in their pants. She's smoking hot though.

Ahhhh you guys. Do you really think $75 Mil is anything to this guy, he makes about 38 Mil a year dudes. I'd worry more about your own financial situations, Kobe will be just fine.
50% of your assessed net worth hurts regardless of what he's making right now. He's also 33 with likely his best earning years behind him in a sport with a newly restructured CBA. Yes, I think $75 million is A LOT to this guy but, yes, he will be fine.

...but Kobe will be more than fine. It doesn't seem to be bothering him, so why should it be bothering you people?

I actually find it funny so many people think this is news worthy
Kobe will be fine financially... like him or not he is incredibly smart when it comes to basketball and he works hard... unlike players like Lebron who physically outperform their opponent, Kobe is an arsenal of tricks that he keeps finding ways to beat you with whatever he has... as he gets older/less quick he develops more options to beat you, and look at this year, incredible scoring numbers AND HE HAS A TORN LIGAMENT IN HIS SHOOTING HAND! He'll have a long career even when he's done playing (in 3-5 years) as a coach or a front office job (talent scout, director of basketball operations)

Yes it is sad he is getting divorced and he has made some really poor personal life choices. Would you do better though if you graduated high school to a superstar multi-million dollar career and then had a career where you were away from home a third of the year and had incredibly hot women dressed to entice you at every city you went to without your wife. To me it's never a surprise when an NBA player gets a divorce... it's an incredible triumph when one has a marriage that lasts! I read an article last year written by an anonymous player describing how hard it is for NBA players to keep their relationships strong and the temptaions they face while traveling, citing in the article that even Steve Nash "the most down to earth guy in the NBA" couldn't make it work and sadly got divorced last year.

I think it's fun to poke at superstars falling for many people... would you do better? I bet if I had his resources and temptations... I'd probably have done worse.

Athletes that are this good and this rich should just flat out say "I'm going to be sleeping around, sign the pre nup, live like a queen, raise my kids, and if I don't calm down after I retire then you can have half". Seems fair with the life they're providing for.

Yea Kobe is a beast basketball wise. He is the best comparison to MJ as they both were incredibly talented, worked hard, killer mentality, and continually evolved throughout their careers. Lebron has been around how many years and still hasn't developed a post game which would make him damn near unstoppable - he's "working on it" pfffft.

Storm,
I'm with you on the reasoning and I would expect that he must have had one but after she stood by him during and after his rape case 8 years ago , she must have requested it voided or was offered by his legal team to void the clause to buy her silence even at that time .

Going into this season he was set to make 81 million dollars over the next 3 seasons. That's about 40% of what he's made in the last 15 years. Losing the 75 million will be rough but I think he'll manage.

Most if us have a hard time dealing with losing 75 bucks at the casino. But 75 million to some broad who had nothing to do with how he made his money? Did she help him shoot a bit better or train better? The laws of marriage is so fucked against men we wonder why rich men do it. They can always rent a hot young woman, you get bored or she gets bored get another one. I've had 3 women in my family say they wish they had never married and had kids and 2 from work.

I heard somewhere a prenup means nothing in california if the couple is married for 10 years. That's why tom cruise divorced nicole kidman the 8th or 9th year of marriage.

75 MILLION!! think about it before you say he will be OK. How many threads here have members say they are pissed off at losing 200 bucks to a bad SP session. Probably having a shrink deal with the madness of 75 MILLION. While she is saying - best career move I ever made was this dude.

Looks like Kobe will keep on paying even after his retirement lol. She'll get permanent spousal support and he'll have nightmares of her.

The fact the marriage lasted 10 years gives Vanessa Bryant several advantages under California divorce law. After passing the 10-year mark, attorney Dmitry Gorin said, a marriage is defined as a lengthy one, which means the spouse is allowed to maintain her standard of living after the split.

Gorin said Vanessa Bryant may be entitled to permanent spousal support and may even be part of Kobe Bryant's retirement plans. She'll probably get "more than enough for many lifetimes," Gorin said.

Hilarious hunka made those comments of 75 mill doesnt mean that much to kobe. I dont see hunka married without a prenup. He lives this selfish lifestyle of living it up and watching ufc front row. If some chick came along and took this easy lifestyle away from hunka he'd be depressed with thoughts of ending it.

That is a distinct possibility.

Maintain her standard of living huh? So does that mean Kobe gets to maintain his, ie she'll come by every so often and blow him? Seems fair no?
