When I was with someone, we decided together not to have kids. Now, years later, without that someone, I still feel it was the right decision. Being alone is sometimes quite lonely, and I have far too big a house for just one person, but I have a very special Portuguese Water Dog who keeps me company.

You are insulting your parents.

I have three kids and wish we had more. They are grown up now and my (so far) 3 grandchildren are the joy of my life.

I stand by the logic that as a couple you have the kids you:
-want
-afford
-can provide the love and time required to raise time

Too often I've seen family, society, the church and other external influences who should keep the sticking noses out of it get involved in telling couples how many children then should or shouldn't have. Unless these people or groups are going to help raise them and/or pony up the dough to send them to hockey, ballet, piano lessons, summer camp, etc. they should STFU and mind their own business.

Kids are great. You give up some freedoms but everytime your child laughs it's all worth it.

I'm all for kids, just don't want ANY of them for myself. Don't want the responsibility, potential heartache, cost, mess, disruption to my life that I quite enjoy, having to be tied to a single partner. To that end I've been to the vet and been neutered and aside from those first three days where I had to wear a cone so I wouldn't lick myself I have no regrets.
You got the luxury treatment. When I got mine done the doctor and nurse were having a very "polite" argument while he was working on me.

I wouldn't mind getting it checked now that 10 yr have passed apparently they can grow back.

When I got snipped it was actually a very surreal experience at times. To start with the Doctor was an absolute spot on match for Michael Palin in looks, voice and mannerisms. Was a little disconcerting to think the guy working on your balls with sharp instruments looked like he may break into a Python skit at any moment.

Add to that the right trippy discussion we had on metaphysical reality while I was doped up on diazepam.

Probably not a bad idea. I've had buddies who 12 or so years after getting neutered they get a little surprise and find out the the wifey is pregnant. So ya, show up to your local medical lab with a copy of Hustler, ask for a collection cup and work off a batch in their waiting room.

I don't plan on any kids. My nieces and nephews are enough for me. While Unca Wolvie doesn't mind playing with them and helping them with their homework, I have little patience for their whining and misbehavior. If I had my own kids, I would be an old school disciplinarian who gives them regular ass-kickings - and these days, that will likely land me in jail.

That 'whining and misbehaviour' is entirely absent from any time spent with my nieces and nephews. They know that time with me is time they get to be treated like an adult (or person at the very least for the younger ones) and the only punishment is that I don't spend time with them if they do act up. As another member of the club of V they are as close to immortality as I want to get.

And I do not 'hate' the breeders, I just wish more of them thought before breeding.
