Okay, I just needed to get this out there. I have a neighbor just down the hall. Everytime he sees me, he checks me out, and tells me to "wait a minute" so he can go get his morbidly overweight, dandruff infested cat. Fine whatever, so you have no life and dedicate it to your cat. Great. Leave me alone. So this morning I was doing some laundry, and my front door was open while I went in to get some change (it takes about 5 seconds) and when I go to close the door, out comes his cat. I turned and said "what is your cat doing in my apartment?" He said that he lets the cat into the hallway sometimes becuase "he gets bored easy". Buy the fucking thing some goddamned toys! So not only was he making it out that I was evil for disliking his cat in the hallway, which leads to my apartment, but he continuously makes innuendos when he sees me in the elevator and hallway. WTF???? Am I really just blowing this out of preportion, or can I go talk to the landlord about this fuckin' guy and his cat antics knowing I am at least semi-sane?

going to see and talk to the landlord about this would be the smart idea, it's better that he or she's aware of what's happening and hopefully will take some action in getting this guy
some much needed therapy, - cat included.

Thanks, Moe. I think I am gonna have a talk with the landlord about that. Surely there is some kind of regulation about keeping your pets in your own apartment....

Lol.... yeah the laundry's fine. And l2l I would NEVER EVER bring harm to an animal unless I had to (like being attacked or needing food). But yeah, dropping it off at a shelter may not be a bad idea afterall.... but then I would have to deal not only with karma but with him knowing damned well I did it. BTW if anyone sees a 1 or 2 bedroom in the downtown area, feel free to let me know about it. I don't think I can stand to live near such a creepy dude for much longer....

Hey Morrigan,

I’m a big believer in listening to your gut. If there’s some instinct in you warning you about this guy I definitely would think about moving, especially if you have no particular ties to the apartment.

In the meantime, I would talk to the landlord and politely say that you’re deathly allergic to cats and that your neighbour has been letting his roam around the hallways. Hopefully your landlord will then take care of the problem, after all that is part of his responsibility as landlord. I probably wouldn’t confront the neighbour directly.

My 2 cents.

Good luck.

Do you do incalls? You wanna rock the boat when you have guys coming and going from your apartment??

If no, or don't care then I say why bother the Land Lord with trivial BS like that. Just tell they guy keep your cat outta my apartment, the hallway's not the f-ing cats back yard.

Believe me some people in your position wouldn't give two fucks about telling another tenant off who is bothering them since they are paying rent and have every right to not have the neighbours cat wandering the god damn hallway.

I'm sure there is, and basically what this all entails to is about privacy. Every person should have the right to have their own space but also every problem such as this must be handled with the utmost diplomacy.

- can we all just get along??... :) here kitty, kitty, kitty....

Catnapped.

Yes it was bad to suggest she steal the kitty and give it to a shelter. Bad, bad, bad. :p
You can buy those anti-cat devices that emit a sound frequency that scares cats (or dogs!), and stick the device next to your door and set it on short range 15 feet.

I can't believe I just wrote a post suggesting how someone should scare away a kitty. :(

I am thinking some of you don't know I have my own furbearing friends. A sonic device would be tres cool, but it would only be detrimental to my cats, but great idea, HK. HAW, the LL knows I've got cats, so that would be a no-go. L2L, I keep a blankie over the pillows and bed so if my cats do go on there, the hair is absolute minimal. And the thing that bothers me most about this guy is the fact that he didn't STOP his cat from wandering in my ajar-ed door. That's not kosher. By that one move, I can tell he doesn't respect other people's boundaries and/or personal space. I would move, but I like my place. I was just pissed of and still kind-of am, but if it happens again (his cat in my place that is) I'm gonna move. But until that happens I will settle for scowling at him. BEWARE A WOMAN'S WRATH and all that mumbo-jumbo... lol Thanks everyone for hearing me out and giving some advice/suggestions. The board (and the people who hang out here) rocks!

oh I'd just go tell the neighbor off.
I have sorta the same situation. my neighbors 3 cats keeps coming into my home when my patio window is opened. and she lets her cats come to my side of the patio to take a shit.
its so annoying.

I think I am just gonna tell him to not only quit oggling me evertime I walk by, but to also keep his animals inside his apartment. Its not a huge issue, I was just pissy this morning and thought I would vent some anger before I got myself into trouble. But this does present an opportunity for some fun, doesn't it? Sorrow, I just may take you up on that offer sometime, cause this guy just doesn't know how to keep his eyes (or pets) to himself. What kind of dog?

You're going to explode?

That guy was right, good thing he doesn't know that what you do for a living. Right now it is just cats and checking you out. You raise the stakes, he raises the stakes.

I thought you were a calm meta-physics buddhist type?

Does this mean I have to stop checking out and oggling the women on my floor? :p

lol... nice dog BTW sorrow. And yeah, that's just it. This guy sees me so much in the hallways I really do wonder if he just waits by his peephole and comes out when I go by or something. I don't think he'd rifle through my laundry, though. And Godzilla, I am not a Buddhist, and even if I was what would it matter. I am human and allowed to feel things like anger. At least I didn't go by my initial impulse which was to tell the guy off. This guy has overstepped his boundaries many times. I am always polite, nodding and saying hello as I pass him in the hallways. But he doesn't seem to click into the fact that I don't want to be his friend, talk to him about anything, or touch his yucky, dandruffy cat. And I can't believe he did nothing to stop his cat from entering my apartment. He could have at least said to me that his cat was in there so I didn't have a heart attack when the mangy thing came bolting out like a bat out of hell. That's what this whole thing is about in my mind. The simple fact that the fucking guy can't even keep an eye on his own animal (when its in the hallway of all places, maybe I should let my snake out into the hallway, I bet I'd be evicted pronto for that) and tell people when the beast wanders into their apartments. Instead he opted to stand there with a stunned deer look on his face and a "hi my name is stupid" smirk. What did I do? Ask him to keep a better eye on his cat next time, and walk away. What did I want to do? Grab his cat by the scruff and give the thing a much needed bath (I really can't emphasize the dandruff on this animal) and tell the guy where to stick it. But instead I took a healthy avenue and decided to vent here, where I knew I would get some colourful feedback. So that's that, anger gone, topic closed. BTW, you better bring by your dog sometime, sorrow. He sounds gorgeous
