Just pondering the health question

We get great response and information through links in the health section. There are tables showing the various STIs and their risk factors as well as details of all the various things we can contract in our pursuit of pleasure but just how frequently does this happen? Education and treatment are better now than they have ever been so I thought it might be interesting to ask what the real world experience is like.

Never from an SP, but way back in the day for sure- dragging home bar-wenches as a youngster and not using protection. Nothing that a penicillin cycle didn't take care of.

I think its easier for women to contract STI's from male partners than it is vice versa

I get checked every 3-4 months.

It's weird, I seem to live a healthier lifestyle while seeing SPs than picking up girls at the bar. I've definitely gotten tested more often in the last few years than I did in the decade before that.

Just looking at the results so far. If fear of an STI is preventing any of you from jumping in and enjoying the fun it looks as though the odds are pretty good. Come on, enjoy life!

A while ago, I caught one from an SP that is currently very highly reviewed

I'm healthy and cleared now of course :thumb:

I hope that you told this SP so she could go see a doctor!

Only thing I ever caught from an SP was the flu. 2 days after I saw a lady I got an email from her warning that she just came down sick with the flu. Sure enough 7 days later....mild flu symptoms..we both laughed.

How do I know if I have HPV?

There is no test to find out a person’s “HPV status.” Also, there is no approved HPV test to find HPV in the mouth or throat.

There are HPV tests that can be used to screen for cervical cancer. These tests are recommended for screening only in women aged 30 years and older. They are not recommended to screen men, adolescents, or women under the age of 30 years.

Most people with HPV do not know they are infected and never develop symptoms or health problems from it. Some people find out they have HPV when they get genital warts. Women may find out they have HPV when they get an abnormal Pap test result (during cervical cancer screening). Others may only find out once they’ve developed more serious problems from HPV, such as cancers

Don't get too optimistic, you'll get very biased results in a poll like this.

People who are recently infected are hopefully staying away from sex, and may as well stay away from the forum.
From those on the forum and have STI history, many will lie or won't answer, despite it's an anonymous poll and everything.
Many had STIs and don't know, as mentioned herpes and HPV are prime examples, or many other STIs can go without symptoms and people just were not tested.
