WASHINGTON -- Karl Rove has been promising GOP supporters an October Surprise. So far, a White House backed news event has not happened.

My money was on the surprise actually coming this weekend (or maybe Monday, being as the American public has the attention span of a gnat) and that it would be, surprise, surprise, that a terrorist plot to ATTACK AMERICA has been foiled thanks to the Bush administration's diligence. The message: only Republicans can protect the American public from terrorists. The fact it would turn out later (as in after the election) to have been a totally manufactured event designed to help the GOP retain control of Congress would be a major shocker.

How and when did I become such a cynic?

Rove Surprise? You mean like the manipulated timing of the Hussein verdict - scheduled for tomorrow, just days before the mid-term U.S. elections... that kinda Rove surprise? But wait Randy, when it's widely speculated that Iraq is poised to erupt over the trial outcome.... can that really be good for the Republican cause? Surprise, surprise

yup - but the best pics are those not "photoshopped"... that one of Kerry coming out of the space shuttle is classic. Then when several of the right leaning rags ran with the following pic... on their front-pages... well, c'mon, hardly fair to Woody Allen

Kerry had his shot - it's really unfortunate he was the Dem candidate as there were better choices. Regardless of his recent gaf, he wouldn't be the 2008 candidate.

Randy… read my reply again… I reference the Kerry quote the way he’s said it, over and over, these last months. Yes, it’s a tired routine – yet it has but a single word difference from what had been played up by the GOP/mainstream media. That single word, the word “us”. It’s a single word that takes the inference away from the intended Bush target.

Randy/shapeshifter, have a look for that YouTube video that includes the quotes from mothers/fathers of soldiers killed in Iraq – it appears they have no sense of humour concerning the Shrub WMD skit… go figure.
- where’s the apology to the U.S. troops when the Shrub equated Iraq to a “comma” in the historical timeline… ha, Randy/shapeshifter, have you seen that photo-shopped pic of Arlington cemetery with all the headstone engravings replaced by commas?

Seriously: there are strong viewpoints held by some, particularly as may relate to politics. There is a give and take that does make for a livelier board - some have thicker skins than others. If I do notice someone takes "real offense"... and I believe it's warranted, I will apologize - as I ultimately did with shapeshifter.
