Do they still make it? The kind that sits on the stove burner and looks so cool when the foil top grows?

Now everything is micro-wave.

I am not the biggest fan of popcorn so won't go out of my way to purchase it. I hate the little sharp bits that get between the teeth, so, I wouldn't know what is available.

Don't do it.. Last time I looked the fat in it is hydrogenized, which means trans fats.

Supposedly the best oil to cook in at high heats is coconut oil. It sure makes delicious popcorn that you don't need to butter.

Gosh, Jiffy Popcorn in my childhood was only for special days like a sibling's Birthday. Growing up in a financially strapped household meant that such novelty snacks were reserved for special occasions. Thanks for triggering a great memory, I think I'll stock up on a few pans just for nostalgic sakes.

Peace.

Yeah, I didn't much enjoy eating it (except the really fluffy ones at the top) but I sure like watching it grow...fascinating.

I wonder if that led to my fascination with other growing objects?

Whilst jiffy pop is better than micro wave popcorn it is still crap.Buy yourself a kettle corn popper from Costco. They just got the lil ones in stock for the holiday season. It is a small light weight unit that has a 2.5 ounce kettle and the popcorn goes directly into a convenient tub...less than $70 for authentic movie theatre popcorn which you get to control the oil and other ingredients...total win :D
