Hmmm...well, Hong Kongers have lots of dough, so expensive Vancouver suits them.
They might also be worried about HK now belonging to China instead of Britain.

Japanese & Chinese have a history together, as enemies, but i doubt that would
have anything to do with it, if what you say is true. I'd guess that there is more
freedom in Japan, though, as compared to communist China.

As for the Phillipinos, their country is full of political turmoil, poverty and corrup-
tion. So coming to Canada is like being freed from a war zone and becoming a
successful gold digger all rolled into one.

lenny,

I pretty much agree with you in 2/3 except that I don't really think that Japanese and Chinese are enemies to each other. The WWII was history even though the present Japanese government still would not acknowledge that they were the aggressors who invaded China and many southeast Asian countries, they did not even tell the truth to their younger generations; however, many younger Japanese generations understand what really happened in the WWII, as such I don't really think that these two nations look at each other as enemies. I agree with you though, Japan is sure a free country compared to the PRC.

The Taiwanese moving to Canada because they are afraid one day that the Chinese government will take over Taiwan as Taiwan was a part of China before.
