James Bond Exhibit at Science World

There are obviously many James Bond fans on perb so as an out-of-towner who hasn't been to Van for a while I wondered if anyone has been to the James Bond Exhibit at Science World? It runs until September 12/04.

“BOND, JAMES BOND – THE EXHIBITION” opened at “SCIENCE WORLD” in Vancouver, Canada on Saturday, June 12, 2004. Bond fans (and who isn't one?) will be thrilled by this unique, compelling traveling exhibit that features the real artifacts, props, sets, and cars from the James Bond Archive.

Guests will be able to step into M's office (the real set from the movies). They'll visit Q's Workshop, and check out the amazing gadgets that have made Bond the bane of super-villains for more than 40 years. They'll even get to put themselves “into” one of the most famous scenes from “A View To A Kill” – hanging from the Golden Gate Bridge.

On June 8, 2004, guests who attended Science World's Gala Opening Fund Raising Party were greeted by the imposing 7'2” Richard Kiel, who played the villain "Jaws" in 2 Bond films. Many guests arrived in their best Bond costumes, and were rewarded with martinis (shaken, not stirred). Then they played for door prizes at a mock French Riviera-style casino. The attendees then visited the Spy Store attached to the exhibit, where they purchased a number of exclusive James Bond collectables no longer available anywhere else.

Little Alex,i went to it two montns ago.There are a lot of interactive displays which you activate with an atm like card that you get when you purchase your ticket. The cost was $20.00,plus the $9.00 entrance fee to Science world.(just like Mp.s)Not being a real hard core 007 fan,I was a little disapointed.There was not enough Gadgets on display and also the two best,the cars were outside the Special JB.area and you do not have to pay $20.00 to view them.

Is it worth it?.....Strictly a case of YMMV.

Sounds great ~A~gent Alex. Just wish the movies were on the big IMAX screen instead of the smaller more conventional theatre.

I have been under the false impression for more than 10 years that one of my favourite Bond Girls (from For Your Eyes Only) was a transexual.

Apparently this urban legend started with a kernal of truth (there was an extra in the movie who was TS), but the legend morphed into something more serious over time and people started attributing it to the leading lady (who was truly a woman).

I was unfortantely too quick to believe the worst of the innocent actress because she does have some masculine features. See for yourself. Now I am happy to report the one I found so sexy in my adolescent youth (before the Urban Legend) was indeed all woman. Compare the 2 in the pic embedded in the above link and see which gender you would have attributed to each of these 1980 girls...

Good points VM. I find that special exhibits often draw substantial crowds and it's hard to pick a time when it's not elbow-to-elbow. Sometimes it's worth checking with the venue ahead of time to see when they experience slower attendance. I think I will wait until September when the kids are back in school and then go in the late afternoon when hopefully there are no school tours. Hopefully all the gadgets will not be broken by then!
