An art teacher who just happened to be Chinese, told me for good Chinese food, eat at a restaurant that had patrons who looked similar to him.

Bigtrapper,

It's good to see you posting on PERB again...

How about the Pink Pearl on E. Hastings? While not technically in Chinatown it is only a couple of blocks away and it consistantly wins awards for its food.

Hon's is a safe bet if you want something inexpensive, fast and good. They've got several locations throughout the Lower Mainland. Unlike McD's, it won't kill you if you eat if exclusively for a month and they won't ask you to Super Size it. :D

mmmmm, I'm getting hungry.

Go to 'floata' before 2:30 for dim sum. It's awesome.
I have to agree with Muffman. Floata is much better quality than Pink Pearl and about the same price, which is pretty reasonable.

I just don't find Hon's to be that great a deal anymore. IMHO the food is down in quality and the portions are smallish. 20yrs ago when they were located on Main Street they were great now they are just ok.

Another place to go to would be The Boss on Main street. Another place is right at the westbound Knight Street bus stop on Pender. As someone else said if you look inside and see a lot of Asian's eating there then it's a good place. Also just slightly out from Chinatown is Wild Rice which is a fusion restaurant, but expect very small portions.

As for Floata, I don't know why everyone is recommending it, I went there a couple of years back and it was ok but not worth the money. Maybe the food has improved?
