Is this typical?

Had settled on an SP for my first encounter and she had to cancel our late morning appointment. I understand, real life happens to everyone. She was nice enough to call and let me know. We rescheduled for the next day at the same time. I called to confirm but got no answer, no surprise and not unexpected, but have yet to receive a call back. I chose this SP because she was very well reviewed by veterans and newbies alike. Is this a typical experience?

This is not typical nor acceptable at all. Most reputable SP's will make every effort to contact a client in a case like this but there may be an explanation. Perhaps what ever caused yesterday's cancellation continued into today. I'd give her until later today to provide an explanation. If she doesn't contact you by tomorrow then you do have a right to be upset.

Just got off the phone with her a few minutes ago. She did provide a reason and can definitely sympathize with her. I guess I'm just more disappointed as I was looking forward to enjoying the experience and exploring this new hobby.

Glad to hear you got it all worked out.
Just goes to show that we all have lives outside this hobby/business and sometimes those lives take priority.
Like any business, hiccups occur. Its how these situations are handled that separate the winners from the losers.

I suppose the answer to your question if it's typical would really depend on the sp in question. some sps are highly reliable while others are not. The only time I get nervous about an appt is when I book with someone I have never met. That's why it is always a gamble when you don't book with say a regular sp for example.

In retrospect, I've been fairly fortunate that most of my appts have never been cancelled.
