Is there a problem with the search feature?

I wanted to follow up on a few threads in which I posted recently, so tried searching for my posts by username and then also by name in the threads (since I put my name in the threads). nothing showed up except some very old posts. So I repeated the search and got different results.

When I searched for some other words I recalled from the threads, i could find some using some search terms, but not the others. Perhaps this explains why some other searches I've done in the past often came up with nothing - I just assumed the threads were deleted but discovered I can now find some of them depending on which words I use.

I finally found the threads I was looking for, but it took multiple searches using different words before I managed to find most of them. And when I found them, I saw all the previous words I had been searching on were also in the threads but didn't show up in the search results for those words.

Anyone else noticed this when they've been using the Advanced Search?

If I want to find a thread that I have posted in, I often go to my profile page and click on "Find all posts." That usually does the trick.

Thanks. That picks them up (at least I think it picks them all up).

I went back and tried the Search Feature again and it still does not show all the posts. Kind of limits the usefulness of PERB if the "Search" feature does not work properly.

I find a lot of web site search engines can be clunky.

Use a Google advanced search, and "search within domain" ie, https://perb.cc
Great tip!

Unfortunately, it is also not reliable. I just tried it and ended up with hundreds of hits for my name on PERB, but got tired of wading through old ones. So I used the Advance Search and selected the date range of within the past 12 months - got no hits whatever. I feel like Rodney Dangerfield....

Seems the more technology advances, the more it goes backwards. A couple years ago the Search feature on Perb worked just great - you could even search for 3 letter words using wildcards. Now you need to copy your posts to a separate file if you ever want to find them again, assuming your computer doesn`t fail like mine did last month.

Maybe I`ll stop at Staples on the way home and buy a pen and some paper....

My search results to add to the mix.
If you are looking for a user, click on "Advanced Search" and choose the "Search For" "User Name:" search field. This has consistently found whomever I tried to search for.
However, searching for words, services or subjects is inconsistent at best. The search engine for this bulletin board is very basic and logic is flawed.
Penholld - As the devices get smaller and the keyboards move to the screen and my eyes get older, the pen and paper is the communication device of my future. I see a trip to Staples coming up.
