Forgive me if I'm wrong but my experience in life is that women who get a regular supply of sex seem to be much happier. I'm 40 years old and I've had my share of women, but it seems to me when they are getting sex on a regular basis they are much nicer to me. In my mind a regular basis means fidelity during the extent of the relationship. My understanding of fidelity includes a prosecuting attorney, an economist, a teacher, a singer (wholly fuckin hot bitch), a social worker (and many others I can't quite remember).

It seems clear from this board that women have an entirely different idea of fidelity. Please explain?

Seriously, I think it applies to both sexes. Getting regular sex has long been known to keep men calm and focused and moderates testorone levels.

Forgive me if I'm wrong but my experience in life is that women who get a regular supply of sex seem to be much happier. I'm 40 years old and I've had my share of women, but it seems to me when they are getting sex on a regular basis they are much nicer to me.

I wish I could join in this little happy hump fest, but my experience with women has not been anything like this. My 2nd wife, who shall remain nameless, and I enjoyed sex EVERYDAY for the first year and a half of marriage. Since she had children with a previous marriage, we would have every other weekend alone as a result of his visitations. On some of those weekends, we barely got out of bed. The kicker: that women tried to pick a fight with me every single day of our marriage. After 3 years of this sort of treatment, I finally got tired of it and moved out.

I am 48 years old and no longer consider long-term relationships an avenue to explore. I like escorts. I see them when I want, have sex when I want, then I go home. I never have to listen to some crazed bitch screaming at me when I have done nothing to deserve it. The law of averages tells you I couldn't have done something wrong EVERYDAY for three fucking years!!!

I honestly don't think there is any connection between a woman's happiness and the amount of sex she is having. Its a nice story you are telling, but I am not convinced its a story with any link to reality. It's never been my experience. Sorry for being such a cynic. I am not a cynic about women. Women are great in small doses. I am cynical about long-term relationships with women. Long-term for me, at this stage on life, is anything approaching 4 hours. After that, I'm gone.

One of our fellow Perb members also supports my claim: our own beloved and extremely lovely Very Veronica. One would assume that VV has plenty of sex. And I am not sure that anyone would accuse VV of being the definative Happy Camper. No offense intended, VV (if you read this). I think your attitude is part of your charm. But I also think she is the perfect case in point that lots of sex does not a happy woman make!

When i get laid i am very happy. That's all i know. And i get lots of sex. Lots. And it's still not enough.

Although the nature of the question asked in the dialogue was different (do the gods love something because it is pious or is it pious because the gods love it?) I think the inability to answer the question convincingly stems from the same problem. There is not enough info provided to answer the question.

Is dexi suggesting the situations described are exlusive: is not having sex the ONLY reason women are unhappy? Is being unhappy the ONLY reason women do not have sex? Asked within that context, we would dismiss both claims. Women do not have sex for many more reasons than being unhappy, and they are not happy for many more reasons than not having sex.

Is the claim one of a causal chain? Is being unhappy the first in a series of events which leads to not having sex? If not having sex the first in a series of events which leads to being unhappy? This seems better. In fact, this seems too good. We have no answer here, because we can see the plausibility of each of these causal chain of events. Again, we have no definative answer.

A damn good question, dexi. I gotta think about this one a little more. I'll get back to you later when I come up with something interesting.

I was doing a PhD in law, but I came to realize the insanity of the program. Why do we have law and what are the reasons far beyond any reasonable understanding? Frankly, I could care less, there are issues that need to be dealt with right here and right now.

A very legitimate question, discom. I don't have the answer, but I am definately interested in questions like that. What is the basis for the authority of law? Are we relying on a kind of Hobbesian version of social contract -- we are nasty creatures and in order to survive as individuals and as a species, we agree to turn over part of our natural rights to the state as a means of self-preservation? That would mean that the only authority of law is the authority we accept it has. But what if we at a later date decide that we want to change the authority of law. Do we still have the right, under the very law we created, to make that change? Is the authority of law really based in Divine Command Theory -- since God cannot be here to rule us directly, we say He rules through law, which is administered through His appointed agents? But we have basically rejected God's ruling authority. So have we replaced God with Ourselves?

So many questions. Discombobbled, I would love to sit down with you over a couple of cocktails and talk legal theory with you. The first two rounds are on me.
