Is my DVD player broken?

When i press the STANDBY/ON button it cums on, but only for a while
and then off again, apparently. I guess that is why the TV it is hooked
up to gives only a snowy picture. Do i need a new DVD machine?

Haha...actually i was in LOS the past 6 months. PERB is blocked
by the police there. But Shaw contacted me soon after i left saying
there was a problem with the signal, and they wanted me to phone
them from home to help resolve it. Since that was impossible, i said
i'd take care of it when i returned. Told them their black box probably
died so it's not my fault. But you're saying it's a dead DVD machine.
