Is it time for a National "Shame the Cons" campaign?!?

With the Justice Committee meetings all wrapped up, and a two month lull ahead of us 'til Parliament sits again ... it's time for an in-your-face campaign to raise awareness.

To date, the approach has been to argue the constitutionality of the new Bill ... it's time to shift focus, and start an overwhelming poster campaign, to Shame the Conservatives, for the deadly environment that they're trying to create.

This industry has long been subject to "Shame the Johns" campaigns ... a play on those words, "Shame the Cons", seems fitting.

The Conservative Government has shown no concern about, and has turned a blind eye to, the deadly environment this new Bill will create.

In the end, it's a Nationalization of the same social experiment that the Vancouver Police Department conducted in the 1990s.

It was that VPD "experiment" which created the killing fields that Robert Pickton used to hunt his prey.

Posters should be plastered everywhere (bus stops, schools, churches, construction sites, fences, malls, telephone poles ... everywhere), with particular focus in Harper's and MacKay's home ridings.

It's time that Harper and MacKay be forced to explain to their children why they have introduced a law that lead to the killing of Canadians, in Canada.

Perhaps SPOC will pick up on this (or a similar) idea, as they have the National contacts to conduct such a campaign ... after all, it was SPOC's legal challenge that opened the door for Bill C-36

It should be easy enough to create posters, in an electronic format, that *anyone* can print, and plaster somewhere ... everywhere.

The campaign would need to be as shocking and offensive as the outcome of the Bill itself.

Here's a suggestion:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prime Minister
Steven Harper

and

Justice Minister
Peter Mackay

want to

Abolish Prostitution

and

have introduced legislation that will create the same environment that allowed Robert Pickton to
Murder Sex Workers
on a National scale
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have an idea for the perfect (and offensive) website name ... but I'll keep that to myself, for now, as it's currently not registered anywhere.

I'd say.....lose " want to......>......and"................then take up from, "have introduced...." Below that put, REMEMBER and then put in the pictures of the Picton victims and/or a cross-section of victims from around the country.

for a branded logo…how about adapting the current Conservative 'C' symbol on this new Shame the (C)ons campaign?
present several solid statements why this law would endanger SP's and create a rallying cry around it.
any clever copywriter on this board?

You should start by spelling the Prime Minister's name properly. It's Stephen Harper, not Steven.

Fortunately for all of us, the Cons have already started a shaming themselves campaign...ever since they won their majority. They keep bringing up stupid legislation like bill C-36, the Fair Elections Act, scrapping the mandatory long-form census, the F-35 debacle, the Senate scandal and the list goes on. Ya, they won't get elected again and the next government has a lot of cleaning up to do after this redneck asshole. They looked like idiots a long time ago, but either they're too stupid or too pigheaded to realize it.

I prefer to refer to him as Adolf Harper rather than Stephen Harper...

Maybe the Conservatives are doing a very good job of shaming themselves, however, they also have an enormous war chest for their attack adverts, have engaged in gerrymandering with their electoral boundary changes, and are probably counting on the complacency of many of the Canadian public along with the opposition split two or three ways. Who needs to be competent or have a majority of the votes in that situation.

Well there may be a different way. In the recent trials on war crimes, the Dutch promised to protect the Muslims from the attackers. But has it turned out, they did not have enough soldiers to do it, and thousands of Muslims were murdered by the enemy. The war crimes trial is on going now. One of the comments made on TV yesterday was that they are going to hold the Dutch who promised to protect the Muslims responsible for the lack of protection.

During my many years of being around here, I have been taught about the Nuremburg Trials where a defense of "I was ordered to do it" did not fly. Our society has learned from that, and most of us know that we are responsible for our own actions.

We have a Prime Minister and Minister of Justice who are going down a path based on a different approach, not properly doing their job, who are likely going to cause a lot of problems, maybe even the deaths of more prostitutes or maybe even Johns too. They are forcing the gals and guys into the dregs of the city where the johns will become targets of thieves and who knows what else, the gals will become targets of bad johns, and the protections ordered by the Supreme Court are being ignored.

It is the Conservatives well established record to knock the Charter of Rights, and they are even in a dispute with the Supreme court who has declared much of their legislation unconstitutional. If you take a good look at what the Conservatives are doing, it is scary. Note today that Rogers is refusing information to the police based on a SCOC decision recently.

So why should we expect anything else from them.

I would suggest that when the first SP is murdered under this legislation, we learn from the war crimes trial that those who created the situation can be held personally responsible, and McKay should be charged with manslaughter.
