Is it safe to update to IOS 9.0.1 now?

A friend of mine got a new phone from Apple because he updated to IOS 9.0 and it wiped it clean. No contacts, no music, no pics etc.

Apple quickly acknowledged the flawed IOS update and had a fix update within days.

I've been reading macrumours and seems the update is either loved or hated but doesn't brick your phone now.

Any iPhone users have comments about this update?

If you do update to the new IOS for your phone, make sure you disable Wi-Fi Assist or it will eat up your data usage and your monthly bill will be huge.

Thanks! That is a good thing to know because some places in my own home my wifi is crap.

I did the original update as well as the latest one, no issues on iphone or ipad.
My friends phone was a 5S and it became useless afterwards. Must have been something that made Apple want that phone asap and gave him a new one.

A buddy of mine has 4s & it caused sidelock issues
Was on tech support lost everything when he got it sorted out
With the new update he got everything back, fortunately he backs up his phone to his computer regularly
I still haven't updated mine
PS what's this auto wifi, & where is it in settings
Cheers

I have a 6 and updated it on the weekend. No problems, just a typical update for me. Could it be a hardware incompatibility problem? Seems like the problems are for the 'older' phones.

That's what I suspected. I have a 6 and the first iPad Mini. I'd like to have them both working on the same page. Guess I'll wait a bit longer.

Ok I was curious about this one. I just checked and its 9.0.2 I hsvnt done the new pop up upgrade I noticed on my phone. Since I did the last one my phones have glitching problems, And freeze sometimes. I have to shut them off and on, on a regular basis. Here's my little input on that upgrade I've noticed on my phones. I still have the 5s' I actually like these phone a lot, just because they are small and they Fit in my little hands well. The 6 I find a bit ackward to hold. But if the glitching. Keeps getting worse I suppose I'll have no choice but to upgrade to new phones.

I had a 4s before the 6. When I upgraded, I thought the 6 was huge and that I would not like it... Now I'm used to it and whenever I see an older iPhone, I can't believe how small they are! Love the 6 now.

Backup, backup, backup. Can never do to much. I back up to Icloud (paid for extra storage space) and to my computer. Losing my contacts is not a option.

Same here. Backup on external drives plus iCloud too.

Thing is if all your IOS devices and your Mac are not on the same level, the synch on iCloud doesn't work. This had to do with the first Mountain Lion OS and it was not working properly with IOS devices.

For a while I had to send myself meeting requests to ensure the phone, iPad and Mac are all on the same page.

This is why I'm uncertain if upgrading is an option at this point.
