Everyone speak English in HK, its in their basic education. However when you are there ordering food is an ordeal unless you are in Mong Kok, Jordan or any of the business or entertainment districts. Once you go to the neighborhoods where there is not much foreigners its all Chinese unless you run into of course a MAcdonlds or KCF. But you intend to eat that junk when you are in Asia do you?
Anyway go to a Chinese Restaurant here and bring along a menu that has Chinese translated for you and you should be ok. Or just go to Jordan district nightly and point to what you need.
