is it possible that an sti be missed or not check
during an in doctors office pregnancy test?

reason I ask is that (in all honesty lol)
my friend got chlamydia from his on and off gf, he swears she is the only girl he has been with
now she is telling him she is pregnant after he found he was positive with chlamydia

he doesnt want to ask a doctor
he is starting to think she is lying about everything
I figure I ask for him

It is possible that an STI test was not done.

Most places just use the standard urine pregnancy test. Some clinics will then run a chlamydia/gonorrhea test with the urine that is left over, but many places do not.

Chlamydia is also an STI that does not usually show any symptoms (men and woman) so it is possible that your friend got it from a previous partner. I have seen some cases were it looks like people have had it for a few months before finding out they had it.

It is possible that she has chlamydia with no symptoms and has not been tested for it.

It is also possible that she may have chlamydia in her throat or rectum but not on her cervix were most testing is done.

Has he been able to talk to her about his positive chlamydia test?

It is hard for me to know with out knowing all the details of the situation.

Even with knowing all the details it can be difficult to know what has happened because chlamydia is common, can be with the person for a while with out them ever getting symptoms, and it can be transmitted with oral and rectal sex but tests are rarely done from these two areas.

It is possible that she does have chlamydia but maybe they did not get a good sample from the cervix or maybe they just did a urine test which is not as accurate as the cervix test. This is why we recommend taking the medication as well as doing a test if your partner tests positive to an STI.

I don’t know your friends sexual history but it is possible that he got chlamydia from another past partner and has not passed it to this partner.

In these situations I find that there can be a lot of blame passed around especially if someone thinks they were cheated on. With chlamydia it is hard to know for sure and in many situations people bring it into new relationships without knowing they have it.

The good thing is that chlamydia is treatable with antibiotics. Chlamydia can damage the fertility of men and woman if not treated.
