Cialis could have some side effects which would endanger your life. That is why you need your doctor to examine you, approve you for it, and give you a prescription. It's not just because it is a "controlled substance". I can't believe you actually had to ask that question.

Read the fine print Cialis reacts negatively (can cause a severe drop in blood pressure) with a common medication for an enlarged prostate. As already pointed out, there are very good reasons for the need for a prescription (and a proper medical consultation).
