Well folks, the iPhone 5 came out today and I have to say I am thoroughly disappointed. The improvements being touted - 4" screen (still too small IMHO and no change in width), lighter, thinner, supports LTE/4G, better processor, and a new OS, etc. are significant but basically just catches it up to the other decent Android phones that have come out in the past year. There was nothing groundbreaking about it. In fact, there is a new connector so they can gouge more money from your cold dead hands. Have these assholes at Apple never heard of the mini USB? They have gone from being the innovator to being safe and boring, look what happened to Nokia. I hope they are not planning on relying the courts to do battle for them. I own an iPhone 4S and I definitely won't be upgrading to an iPhone 5. In fact, my next phone will, as of right now, be anything but an iPhone. If you have Apple shares, I would unload them if they hit $700 per share or right after they launch the iPad mini, whichever comes first.

Yeah I'm not too enthusiastic about iPhone 5. I'm not in the market for an upgrade just yet but if there was something major in this release I would have thought long and hard about it. Didn't think too hard to decide and wait for the next version.

I will get one when my contract ends in November. Not sure if I will keep it or sell it since I do like my Atrix.

We shall see :D

Well it seems you could have written this article, which mirrors exactly what you said:
Apple's iPhone launches no longer excite

Using my S3 from H.K and i'm sure the new iPhone can't beat it.... the thing about apple product is the company does not want to put the full potential on their products which is how they make money lol so just go with Android or Windows phone! no offense to any Apple lovers/users!

Overall the iPhone 5 is a great phone, but not spectacular. If you have a 4s there really isn't a real need to upgrade unless you want the larger LCD. And while you may not get all the hardware bells and whistles with the iPhone 5 like you do with the Galaxy S3 you do get Apple's Ecosystem. I am mostly disappointed that Wind and Mobilicity won't be getting the iPhone.

I do think Apple made a mistake with the iPod Touch and Nano. The Touch is great piece of hardware but with a starting price of $299 it is a joke. The new Nano is just plain ugly and should have been dropped. They should only carry one PMP.

If Apple does release a 7" tablet it will probably be priced in the $350 dollar plus range which is a bit on the high end considering the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD.

They changed the plug so all your toys will no longer work without an adapter. Also because of the restrictions of the iPhone OS, most of you apps you own will not work with the new screen size. Android of course has none of these limitations and chose to go with the industry standard mini USB connection.

I give them credit for being first with many things .. but that just mean first to come out with it ,, and every one else is right be hind them with a newer and better product..

The fact that Apple is the richest company in the world and have a stock price that is just going up and up , Looks like it will be over $700 this month and over 100% gain in a year. But that only means that they have a long way to fall.. Even with new products coming out they have to remember that people want the some thing that is flash , that is what sells , The i phone stil has a bit of it and loyal customers that like saying I have an i phone ,,I have never been one of them ..and right now don see a reason to start , If Apple can't see that a new i phone has to be better then the composition, have a bigger screen then 4" when there are many out there with 5" ,and have all the bells and whistle that every one has but better ( yes it is copying , which they are claiming every one else is doing with the i phone )..

Considering how much of there business is the i phone .. and they want more of that share they had better get some smart ,, history is full of companies that were on top and now are struggling to survive or gone .. I know none compare stock valuation , even google has a $700 dollar stock but only have as many stocks ..( of course there will be a split soon on Google and likely Apple in the next few months .. Maybe just in time for the slide in price ..

I look at Sony , who has tries to dominate the electronics market , with propitiatory produces and innovation , but to there own detriment .
and now RIM , the one product wonder ..Blackberry and like devices ,and their operating system and security..and they were not far behind Apple with a touch type screen ,that just did not impress .. Now they have gone from a $100 STOCK TO A $7 STOCK in a few years ..

A round the corner there coud be the next big idea , and company that sources sky high and they have its wings melt , to just plummet back in to the pit..

I'm one of those floating consumers when it comes to tech, Microsoft, Apple, various flavours of Linux over the years on my home PCs.

As for phones, I was all Symbia or Nokia type handsets for the longest time, then Windows Mobile for about 3 years and recently moved to an iPhone and an Android Tablet not for any major brand loyalty or anything like that but my observation is that with the iPhone and iOS products access to the iTunes and App stores is probably one of the biggest selling points to keep people with the product. I'm a massive consumer on both and while Google Play and the App store there is improving and the volume of product is increasing the Apple product just seems that little bit better at the moment.

Give me 6 months maybe I'll change my mind and float onto something else. Maybe the Windows8 RT is going to be the best product ever... I guess we'll soon see.
