YES since we are talking health here, I want to chime in putting my comments interspersed below. Kinda fav topic of mine these days based on that aged old saying "if you don't take care of your body, where are you going to live?"
Good for you
Ive also made several changes to what goes into, & on my body.
Potatoes are quite good for you. I boil them, remove the skin and then bake them, and add a tiny bit of butter and seasoning afterwards. ( cooled boiled water goes to my plants)
So many folks think potatoes are not all that good for you but these puppies are chock full of minerals and Vitamin C. As Ms Lady-Via says, just put a bit of butter on em.
Chick peas also really help with the feeling of fullness. I thrown hemp seeds into almost everything I eat, because I felt faintish after 48 hours of no meat. I had to increase protein levels quite a bit as i ate a fair amount of meat.
Chick peas do have estrogen so older guys like me need to watch the consumption but they are so good. I coat them with a bit of olive oil, chili powder, salt and roast them. Makes for a great salad topper.
I've produced a vegan in my family so I've actually gotten pretty good over the years with making Non dairy(meat free) sauces, & dressings which helps for limmiting dairy intake, which I've also done recently. This is experimental & primarily due to skin irritations.
Giving up dairy is harder for me than most other foods. Not sure why, but if you can completely eliminate it, chances are high, a lot of common afflictions go away. Slammed my pollen allergies right to the mat.
I've tried to go to black coffee, but it didnt work, although Ive managed to get about 50 % there. Maybe I'm just not trying the right black coffee, as I am used to drinking Starbucks, so any recommendations would be great.
I am a self professed coffee snob. And refer to my comment on dairy, giving up a dairy latte was like ripping a chunk of my heart out. No way I can do almond, rice, soy etc milk alternatives and oat milk acts like a handful of bb's shooting through my system. So the trick for me was to make better coffee. Its in the bean, buy freshly roasted. And in the grind. You will need to buck up here as the cheap grinders don't cut it. Throw money at the coffee situation and the reward is really really good coffee!
I also cut meat out again recently, This is a first for me in many many years, but I was a vegetarian as a child until I 16, and by choice as I was the only one in the family at the time.
Now a days there are so many more vegetarian and vegan options which makes the shift much easier.
7 years ago I started "eat more plants than animals, eat a bit less". Not going to become vegetarian and being vegan I put it akin to being Jewish, way too many rules. Nothing like a rare rib eye, prime rib, bbq'd pork loin, a roast chicken and so on and on. Anyway, yes there a lot of alternatives. For those committed to their cause.
I consume alot of Raw fruit, Veggies, Nuts
Me too
I also eat whenever I'm hungry. I dont have any routine for food intake, but I do drink a glass of water before i eat anything.
Well that would put me back into the see food diet, as in I see food and I eat it so I have to be fairly regular but if I am not hungry, why eat.
The only cleanser I use on my face is Dove for sensitive skin soap. No other facial cleansers besides soap, and a basic eye make up remover.
Once in a while if I feel like my skin is dry I'll apply a moisturizer, but its not part of any daily skin care routine, and I never put it on directly after washing my face.
I use water on my face. Tap water. Pure from the faucet water. It's worked ok and I don't think I look like a mile of bad road
I stretch daily & exercise when i feel like it, and legitimatley to break a sweat, because I think it makes my skin glow.
I dont step on a scale anymore.
Yes to stretching exercising being active etc and I do have a scale ... and you know you can recalibrate those things to lie to you!
H2o H2o H2o H2o H2o. lots of it.
Lots of water and sleep too!! And collagen - whether pills, shake, broth, it helps with skin and joint health in a pretty big way.
I exfoliate my skin once a week with a rice flour mask.
I also use a few other facial masks of which I make myself with natural, organic ingredients.
Basically if its not edible, or safe for consumption, the bare minimal will touch my skin.
I prefer to have a lovely woman exfoliating all over me, as much as she wants.
