It's not the face that gets peeled, it's the scalp, and forehead. I have embalmed quite a few posts (autopsies). When you embalm someone who has been autopsied you basically have to undue everything the pathologist did when he finished his exam. Since all the arteries have been severed, to embalm, I had to open the chest up, take the guts and brains out which are all in a garbage bag in the chest cavity, and then find the artery ends to emblam each limb. The peeling of the scalp comes with having to take the skull cap off while embalming the head, and then fasten it back on with screws and fasteners to prevent it from moving. Stitching the scalp back together is a pain because the hair gets in the way, especially with east indians as they never cut their hair. I'm getting teary eyed thinking about the good old days when going to work was actually fun.
