Reminds me of the video Faces of Death that was the #1 video rental in the US in 1986 (apparently). Much of the beginning of the video is actual autopsies taking place. The most surreal moments are when they literally peel the person's face off to do the brain examination.

Looking on amazon almost every review is 1 / 5. But they still sell!

My fave was the guy filming the nice grizzly bear which finally got tired of him and smacked him in the head. It hardly looked like the bear did anything and the guy was out cold. Needless to say, with all that exertion the grizz needed a snack ... (you can guess the rest)

It's not the face that gets peeled, it's the scalp, and forehead. I have embalmed quite a few posts (autopsies). When you embalm someone who has been autopsied you basically have to undue everything the pathologist did when he finished his exam. Since all the arteries have been severed, to embalm, I had to open the chest up, take the guts and brains out which are all in a garbage bag in the chest cavity, and then find the artery ends to emblam each limb. The peeling of the scalp comes with having to take the skull cap off while embalming the head, and then fasten it back on with screws and fasteners to prevent it from moving. Stitching the scalp back together is a pain because the hair gets in the way, especially with east indians as they never cut their hair. I'm getting teary eyed thinking about the good old days when going to work was actually fun.

Sounds like a very interesting job you have stiffdeadman - you are in the funeral home biz and you poon to get back to reality.

Note to all people on here entering post secondary school. Learn a trade, or specialize in something. I made the mistake of just getting a business degree which has proven useless.

I hear ya. Just try and locate a trades person nowadays, they are very hard to find.

I was in that business for a couple of years, but then I got screwed out of an apprenticeship by east indians, so I'm not in the industry anymore. I miss it alot and wish I could do it again, but unfortunately the pay sucks for the first few years and I'm too old and have to many bills to pay to make $11.00-$12.00 an hour again.

I hate what I do now with a passion but I make more money, however still searching for a good paying career. Note to all people on here entering post secondary school. Learn a trade, or specialize in something. I made the mistake of just getting a business degree which has proven useless.

Handling a dead body only pays $11.00-$12.00/hr.???? Good grief!

I know people that would handle certain bodies for no fee.
