In defense of plastic surgery

I recently reviewed an SP who had obviously had a some plastic surgery.

Tant and I had the following exchange which I reproduce here...

TANTOn the one hand I think it's great that this girl can unleash such worshipful admiration for her beauty in guys like you. On the other hand, it just amazes me how a man as deep as you in your thinking about the world can fall head over heel for one of those K-Barbie dolls who all look like they've been spit out by a 3-D printer.

Happy return visits to this ravishing miracle of cosmetic surgery. Please don't be shy about treating us to updates.

ME
What a masterful couple of sentences Tant! Whether taken literally or sarcastically they can be simultaneously complimentary and not. Love it!

But in the defense of plastic surgery. We have no problem with having dentists give us a perfect smile, or getting a tattoo that enhances our looks because of the sheer skill and artistry of the tattooist.

Why is the perfect nose, or perfect eyes any different?

When it comes to actual "facial" surgery, I'm of the opinion that it should only be done if it benefits the person. Not talking about their ego, and vain image of themselves, or trying to beat the clock, I mean "like if a monkey ripped your face off, and they made you a new face" kind of plastic surgery....

I thought the face transplant thing had weird psychological effects?

Also, it is kind of iffy where you would draw the line, would it be at cleft palates or people with unsightly moles? I think people should be able to do what they want, if they want a nose job, collagen lip injections, botox or even that double eyelid thing, but they might want to try to figure out if what they are getting surgerized is really what is making them feel bad or self-conscious or if it's something else before getting they get the surgerization.
My point was if it was to repair something like a cleft palate, I am down with that. Stupid vain people who get botox, or their eyes done, or whatever, I have no use for....

You'd be surprised how many senior, working men get nips and tucks, and it's not about being beautiful, but, being competitive in a market place that prefers to hire and work with young looking people. They are just getting the turkey gobblers lifted, the eyelids done and the filler for cheeks, and forehead furrows, to look less old and tired. If you're in a forever job you'd probably never think of it, however, I'm thinking these guys are looking at working past retirement. Old people are sadly overlooked in the hiring process

Yeah, but I'm saying someone that has a funky nose that they want a nose job for might not need the repair but it might improve their self worth to get that nose job. There might be nothing "deformed" or "wrong" with them but they might be just that much more attractive in their own mind or other peoples. Maybe they have that body dysmorphia but if they don't and it will make them feel better than I wouldn't deny them that.
No, I agree with you... I mean more along the line of the people who get wrinkles, botox... that kind of cosmetic BS
