Different Markets

I think this is a certainly a "different markets" arguement as noted by Travel Guy.

Alot of the escorts I shoot are ideally looking for higher end clientele, overnights and travel dates. Thus their pictures need to be a bit more polished and professionaly, considering their target market.

Thank you all for your feedback.

Good edit TravelGuy,

They do look different, don't they

.....sure - but I edited the spelling of the word "anatomy"....I'm still of the opinion that I don't need to see said anatomy (previously anatomoy) to know that it's there.

With a picture like the ones I have used, it actually shows her home environment, obviously she keeps it clean and not a run down with stains on the drapes etc.

DDawg,
I understand what your saying, I just think that if I'm shopping for an overnighter or just a new ATF, I like to know that she differentiates herself with more than just text on her website. If the photos are of the same quality that some guy in prison is recieiveing from his girlfriend or the same sort that you see everytime you browse the "intimate" section of an internet dating site then I'm just not inclined to take the sp seriously as a professional.

For the record, some of the sps whose company I've enjoyed most don't have websites OR photos, BUT if one of them were to create a website in the future and the photos on that site were less than professional, I have to say I'd be a bit dissillusioned. I honestly expect professional sps to have professional pics.

I just take exception to a poll that is skewed to be used as a sales pitch down the road.

I can hear it now.......

"Look at the poll result, the vast majority of Perb pooners say that you should have GOOD pictures. Not those home made ones."
All due respect to both you and V.Derek - yes, sounds kinda pitchy, but I also believe that sps are capable of making their own decisions and don't see a poll swaying them.....if it does, there's certainly no gaurantee that it'll sway them to see V.Derek - no offense, but the photog hifi made note of would be my pic if I were in the position of a sp seeking new photos.

Hey Travel Guy, he is a good shooter (even for an Albertan *S*)and uses I style that I emulated about 7 years ago and yes, SP's can and do make up their own minds about who they use as a photographer.

My intention in putting this poll together was to see peoples reaction to what I had posted and guage if the people who advertise here and the people who poon here were cognizent of the value of good photography.

So far I think the poll is fairly split as to whether its of any value beyond a basic mug/body shot. It is of value to me however, to note whether the SP's who use this board are my particular target audience.

Regards, Derek

Degree of Accuracy

If you poll 1,000 people your results are accurate for the entire population to within plus or minus 4%, 19 times out of 20.

What is the degree of Accuracy on a poll of 49 people??? Any thoughts..??

Derek,
Having had the opportunity to see for myself your skill as a photographer, I'd say there's definately a market for it. You just may not find it here on this board.

You'll note that higher end escorts mentioned here are only mentioned when the "let's boycott!!" argument makes an appearance.

Good luck to you though. I hope you're able to market your craft to those with an appreciation for it.

Good photographs are worth it

I think there may be some confusion here - there is a difference between "good" photographs, which are artfully created and presented, using effective technique, and "artful" photographs where the presentation and props and apparent theme tends to overwhelm the subject being photographed.

The photograph above of Avarice is a useful example. I like Avarice's photos, but not as much as I like her in real life. I also suffer from a further disadvantage - I've been taking photographs for almost .... well, many years - some on a full time professional basis, many on a part-time professional basis and most on a serious hobbyist basis. As a result, I can't help myself - inevitably I end up critiquing (in my mind) the technique. I think that the spirit and attitude shown in Avarice's photos are accurate, but I think that the limited technique ends up serving her poorly. Avarice is all about curves and movement and sparkle - she is truly three dimensional. Unfortunately, the lighting in her photos tends to flatten the representation - they don't really do her justice. I truly believe that better (as in technically more accomplished) photographs would be more likely to represent her more accurately. That doesn't mean, however, that I won't continue to enjoy Avarice's photos, in whatever form she chooses to record them.
In case anyone is wondering, this is not an indirect way of attempting to drum up business. I shoot exclusively on film, and it would just be too complicated to try to do this sort of work without it conflicting with the rest of my life. Now if anyone out there just wants some critiquing, or suggestions, I'd be happy to volunteer (I know, everyone is happy to volunteer).

Critique away!

Hey Careful, I would love some feedback always. Please check out my MSN site at

http://groups.msn.com/ServiceProvidersVancouver/

I took all the photos on it with the exception of the shot of Rachel Robson, which I think is a super shot of her.

Glad for the feedback.

just a quick question!!! when u watch commercials on tv....do the hamburgers u see for micky ds or other places look as tasty when u recieve it in person at the counter as it does on tv. maybe not the greatest comparison...sorry ladies....but i think i needed to make it as easy as possible for some....sorry for u more intelligent boyz out there. advertising folks...so a little touch up on pro photos might be done. i am offended by the cheap and dirty comment however!!!! doesnèt this opinion make THAT writer just as cheap and dirty for responding since i believe it is HE that calls US!!!! i think caring about a quality ad shows that a girl obviously pays enough attention and care to detail to her advertisement and will more likely than not pay as much attention to the service she provides if she cares that much about her advertisement to get it done well!!!! this does take time u know!!!!
ok....so maybe not such a quick question....i just.....grrr...
never mind.....i still hope u have a great day.
xo....azen

i am going to apologize right now to yman!! i must have been more tired than i thought and misread what he wrote re: cheap and dirty. i thought it read something else. i am truly sorry for jumping the gun yman!!!! bad bad gurl!!! no spankings...going back to sleep now!!!! damn im good at making an @ss of myself huh!!!
humbley not winking or blinking cuz it causes wrinkles or sumthin....azen

Touch Ups.... *S*

Mia, alot of women have said to me "don't retouch me too much" and I can respect that as they require a clear representation of who they are so that clients are misled.

In actual fact, most of the touch up I do is of the "resizing and cropping/colour correction" nature but I will fix things that I think I could have done better photographically. (this part just might be ego.....*S*)
