Irrespective of any justification Trump has given or any legitimate need his supporters see for it, I think a really big reason Trump is so dead-set on his border wall is simple: he wants a Trump Monument.

I mean, his whole damned business is about branding. Trump Towers often are just name licensing deals to other projects. The USMCA is a superficial rewrite and rebranding of NAFTA so he can put his mark on it. The wall is just the pinnacle of his narcissism. China's Great Wall can be seen from space. IMHO he just wants one of those, just pissing on the ground to mark his territory.

Obama's legacy can be dismantled because it's legislation. A huge, tangible wall is a lot harder to tear down.

Border walls, Government shut-downs, Caravans, etal, are feeble attempts to distract from the real damage (uber-conservative Judges that will decide law for decades, dismantling of The EPA, NATO unrest, etc.).
Trump won't be alive to witness the results of the chaos he's brought upon us, I'm just hoping Baron knocks-up some trollop while he's away at boarding school and abortion would no longer be an option.
