I think the last thread I posted was similar to this but overall was asking a different question.

So I'm single, Ive always been the type of guy that just waits, never really pursues anyone. Things just happen when I least expect it. Thats a better way of putting it.

But now I want to maybe start casually dating, meeting people, maybe actually hit on women. I'm totally a rookie when it comes to signals/hints and actually making the first move and all that other good stuff.

So lets say I'm in the mall or just out and about, I see a girl that catches my eye but I'm not sure if I should approach. What are some things I should look for to let me know I should move in?
Eye contact? her making her way closer to me? a smile? wink? a bag of chips?

I know for me when I'm walking around in the mall my eyes tend to wander, alot of the time I make eye contact with alot of women, but that doesnt necessarily mean Im interested in them, thats just how I am. I cant stay locked onto one thing for more than 10 seconds. I think its awkward.

Anyway, I dont see this thread going anywhere really. It was just a random thought I had tonight that I thought I'd ask.

A few years ago I was riding my bicycle on the seawall. I saw a young (Turned out to be Japanese) girl sitting on a bench looking at a map. I did a u-turn and asked if I could help. This in itself was a risk because I am not a local. Turns out she was trying to find her way back to her friend's apartment where she was staying.

It was four blocks from where I was saying, so I led her back.

The next morning she dropped by my room, and we went riding all day.

It was the start of a great year-long friendship. Still think about her to this day.
